This is so true. It's like they have two completely different sets of writers. One for the Empire storyline and one for the Foundation storyline. It's extremely frustrating. I often find myself time-skipping through the Foundation stuff.
It's been speculated that the Empire parts were written by co-showrunner Josh Friedman, who has departed the show and the cringey Terminus garbage was written by David Goyer, which would fit since he's mostly written comic book movies and low-rated SyFy network crap.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com...a-1203219/

It's a real shame that the Terminus storyline is so full of horrible action sequences and stupid character writing being performed by inexperienced actors while the Empire story is thoughtful and masterfully acted by Lee Pace and the other Cleon clones.

I get that they're trying to do "GoT in space" so some action sequences are required but I've never seen such an uneven show in my life.

This seems accurate with my recollection

Honestly the only Asimov books I ever got into but even then, barely. The psychohistory is all that really interests me
Some of the robot stories are quite good. Did you ever read "The Caves of Steel"? As a noir detective story set in the far future I thought it was pretty interesting.

I agree, See is pretty good. Haven't had a chance to watch Ted Lasso yet. Acapulco has a warm hearted feeling to the show.

Agreed, I wanted the show to be good so badly, but it's sorta lost the actual Foundation plot. The Empire stuff is actually more interesting than the Foundation stuff in the show.
Exactly! I know the 2nd Foundation is behind the scenes and has developed psychic powers, but the whole premise of psychohistory is that (by and large) it operates on populations as the inevitable result of the evolution of society: it does not require the intervention of unique hero figures with superhuman powers to rescue the day in favor of the predicted outcome.

The 2nd Foundation gave nudges at critical moments so that the overwhelming tendency of the whole population would lead along the path that would produce the desired results.

Completely agree, when they started in with the individuals with powers I really thought I was watching a show about a different book. So weird.

I'm going to take a different track here...

If reading the books is going to ruin the show then I'll pass on the books. Wink

I enjoyed the show. It's not perfect, but it's ambitious and far better than most television (or otherwise) scifi.

Is the BBC version faithful to the books? I wasn't impressed with the AppleTV+ version and I read many reviews from book readers that the AppleTV version wasn't even remotely close to the books.

That's unfortunate. I only enjoyed the scenes with Empire. Everything else was "NO INTELLIGENT PERSON WOULD EVER MAKE THAT DECISION"

Over and over again. Made my head hurt with how stupid the writing was
The more I think about the Apple series, the more I agree. I like the scenes with Lee Pace and Jared Harris but I didn't like the rest of the tv series.
