I have this tablet, and if you've never used a tablet for drawing/retouching, it's a game changer. I compared a Wacom Tablet to painting with a paint brush while a mouse is more like trying to paint with a rock. It's night and day. That being said, there is a pretty big learning curve with these, mostly just reteaching yourself and your arm/hand how to interact with the pointer on screen. Took me roughly two weeks before I was fully comfortable, and in the beginning I was so tempted to not follow through. But it's worth it.

As far as the nibs, different people have different experiences, but my general experience is that I can get a good 4-6 months out of a nib, and then I need to switch it out. But you can get 10 nibs for less than $30... so it's not a huge extra expense.

I've been using Wacom Intuos tablets for 15 years now (of various models)and medium has always been my go to size. I use this instead of a mouse and has saved my wrists from carpal tunnel syndrome. It takes a bit to get used to for everyday task from using a mouse, but I haven't had pain in my wrists since switching.

Interesting, didn't even know something like this existed. It's surprising how you can just discover something. Reading reviews though apparently they made this bad by changing texture so that the nibs purposely degrade and very quickly at that. If you're in the market for something like this, I'd pass on this specific product.
I typically put a piece of paper over the drawing area of my old Intuos 4 because it's too smooth and feels unnatural vs drawing on paper. I would guess that their intention in adding texture was to improve the feel of drawing on these tablets.

Not necessarily preferred by everyone though.

We got our daughter the small version of this when she was about 11. It was a steep learning curve and a little frustrating at first because she wasn't used to it. But once she got the hang of it it was a game changer and there's no way she would ever go back to drawing with stylus or fingertip or mouse. The small version isn't much smaller than this one but has fewer features and a somewhat lower resolution. She uses it daily with Adobe sketchbook and fire alpaca. In the past couple of years we replaced the pen once (she's hard on these but she uses it for literally hours every day) and bought one new pack of nibs but that was it. It's also only 50 or $60 normally. Here's a link for a refurbished kit of the small one for 50: Wacom Intuos Creative Pen Tablet - Small, Black (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VS4K...SBHCXQGNW4

How would this compare to a Wacom One? I picked one up for the same price earlier, but I'll resell it if this is significantly better.

I've had a really good deal on a Wacom tablet before and less than a year later they discontinued driver support for Windows. Do they still do this?

Very tempting purchase.. don't have the $25 offer so after taxes it's $263. Still unsure whether to bite or not. If anyone buys the tablet, I'd be interested in the adobe CC.

If you set it up the hardware for them, no. There's issues that others have mentioned that I wouldn't dismiss. The hand eye coordination is difficult on these models as you're drawing with the wacom pen while looking at the monitor, it's much easier to use a tablet where you're actually drawing on the screen. Additionally if you're interested in the tablet end of it you can purchase software like artrage lite which is inexpensive and easier to navigate and use the tablet. There's no reason you'd use software like photoshop for a 9 year old. You're just introducing complexity where it's not necessary.

Unless you are very sure this is what you want, I wouldn't jump on this. We live in an era of touch screens, and this type of tablets can be very frustrating to learn.

If you can get a cheap Surface or iPad they are superior in every way. You're drawing directly on the screen and as long it's not a cheap pos you don't have massive parallax issues. Software like Procreate is quite robust on the iPad and much more streamlined to creating artwork. For the Surface there's Artrage, Rebelle, Painter, etc.

Does anyone have any experience with extending a standard Adobe CC plan with a different subscription card like what's included here?

Their site mentions this, but may be different in practice?

I've done it before, if you already have the exact same plan as the one on the new card it will just extend the expiration in your account.

For around this price you can get 12-16" drawing tablets from multiple brand competitors with the screen built in so you can be even more precise and not have a deep learning curve trying to get used to eye and hand coordination while drawing or sketching that comes with these types. This for the most part is old technology and can get similar results from a $50 tablet.

Would the Samsung A7 tablet that's on sale for ~$170 be a better or equivalent drawing tablet than this? Kid wants a drawing tablet to connect to his PC, and thinking the A7 would be useful for that plus more?

I've been researching best laptops for digital art, architecture, blueprints, etc and came across this as well & if anyone can help with advice on best options and/or specs etc to purchase for the reasons mentioned for my husband I would be so grateful (& rep of course) bc I am having a hard time deciding - he also wants to use digital art to create nft type art and I have a hard time not choosing higher end gaming specs which he doesn't really need (plus we just spent almost $2k on my new laptop and we have xbox one x consoles and others and trying to get xbox series x so I know I really don't need to get him something over $1k but I don't want it to be slow and not do the Job well either. He draws plans etc on iPad Air 2020 11" we have but the pen is not great- we always buy and Rehab houses for STR purposes and he draws plans etc but something to travel with that isnt dainty would be good as well. I truly appreciate any help at all please- I've googled and I just dont know because I'm not sure about arts on pc types but it will be his 1st pc so he does need to learn what he likes too… thanks in advance Smilie
