I'm far too invested in Nest and so carefully looking for ways out during this holiday shopping period.
The requirement to use the Google Home app with newer devices, meaning keeping up with 2 apps for one ecosystem, is just icing on the cake for me to switch.
Unfortunately, all of the cloud-based service ecosystems all have their unique faults that can drive people nuts.
Gotta pay more and go with something like AvertX. But, then the downside is that integration with services like Alexa or HomeKit doesn't work well, if at all. No perfect option exists. Just have to choose the one with least cons for one's particular use case.

Earlier this year, when I signed-up, they wouldn't allow me to include 1 doorbell at my parent's house, only two houses away, on the same street.
They claimed the subscription is for 1 location so they have a fixed, physical address for sending Help.
I bought another system (base unit + more pieces) for my parents, but without a subscription.
I bought another system a few months back, and I'm going to try to make it a remote unit, for use in hotel rooms, when we vacation, after adding a subscription with my parents address.
Since it's SIM based, Ring might not know the base unit isn't at the registered address(?)
