Very good mic. Check out Bandrew reviews in his Podcastage channel on YouTube for his review. This is about the best USB mic you can buy and this is 1/2 the price from a year ago. PS…they don't make this model anymore. The new one is USB-C and isn't quite as high quality as this old school mini USB version. I've used it for Zoom stuff mostly, and you could very well podcast with this. It is upgradable to pro cables if you go heavy into podcasting at some point.

Note: You have to keep this mic very close to your mouth to have it pick up your voice so If you're not accustomed to it there will be a learning curve. Also, the mic must be in the camera frame to sound good on Zoom, so consider if you are willing to make that trade off to sound super crisp to the 5% of your coworkers who will notice the difference 🤷

generally speaking, most pro audio mics are vastly superior to flashy gamer stuff...

Anyone have experience with the mic? I'm thinking of getting this just for the mic, to be used for computer gaming.

The mic seems like it's $50, dollars alone so could be a good deal. Looking for a good teams/zoom mic, let me know if folks have recommendations.

The mic alone was about $80 for this past year. I had one before (the silver version) and it has the best quality for the price.

Thanks for the info. I was considering this for Zoom and for Discord chat with friends while gaming. Sounds like this wouldn't be ideal for this use case if I'm sitting at my PC, as I have literally nowhere to put the mic directly in front me. My keyboard is there, and if I put it to the left my my keyboard, my keyboard would most certainly be louder than my voice.

Alternatively, I have a bunch of older XLR mics I was given (Shure SM58 I believe, but I'd have to dig them out to check), but I have no preamp or USB interface to make use of them. As far as I can tell, those would be even better for recording\singing etc. than the ATH-M20x, but not so much for Zoom\Discord since it would likely have the same issue of needing to be right in front of me, correct?

EDIT: After reading up on the differences between (and the uses for) dynamic and condenser mics, I'll probably just go with one of these for $6.

Has to sound better than the pinhole mic on a webcam from 3 feet away, or the 20 year old Logitech USB mic I've been attempting to use. I'm certainly not going to be doing any podcasts, live vocal performances or trying to stream my twitches... or whatever it is the kids are doing these days.

Excellent mic. Have had this for over a year and I paid $100 for it. It is very dynamic - little to no room noise out of the box. You need to talk directly into it if you want your voice picked up. It sounds great.

Can anyone please recommend a very good microphone for singing? Daughter is into singing and it's time to give her the best.

Are podcast microphones different than singing microphones?

Thanks

Also wondering how these would do for singing, especially for metal vocals?? How would these compare to mics like the Shure SM58?

Don't have this mic, but my bet is that it's probably extremely decent for a USB mic. AT is known for high-quality stuff, and looking at online reviews, there's a lot of decent things said about it. I'd trust AT more than buying a Yeti or using a in-headset mic.

If you're looking for a mic to use professionally, you'd get better performance using phantom power at around the same price point.

I'm getting "Coupon code "FOCUS5" is not valid." in the Discount Code box. Did you create an account first or something?

Edit: Nevermind, I see you posted that a few days ago when they maybe has some other special promo.

I do! I am a professional musician, but I admittedly do not have extensive experience in recording. I'm sure for professional recording this mic is not up to par. That said, I use this mic for teaching over Zoom and for simple recording applications. I paid $65 just for the mic and feel that was very fair. The quality of the recording is much better than built-in mics or gaming headsets.

If you go with this mic you are probably going to want a boom mic stand. You will want this close to your mouth
