OnePlus is a nightmare to deal with. Worst customer support I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Wasted countless hours dealing with support over literally 2 months, had to send my phone in twice and lost a $20 Dbrand skin in the process. Issue was never actually resolved, and they refused to replace the phone. They'll forever be on my shit list now.
Thanks to itxjustin for the steps to make the phone SIM-free (unlocked to use on other carriers).

1. Turned the phone on without sim
---- Connect to WIFI --
2. Went to Settings, Connections
3. Select Network Unlock
4. Select Permanent Unlock
5. Done
6. Update to Android 11
7. Check with a non-TMO SIM to see if you can make and receive calls.
I had this phone for almost a year and a half. It was great at first but now it gives a "not responding" message every so often. Also gets a lot hotter than it used to.... I bought it for $400 awhile ago so I'm not complaining. I love the hypercharge feature, every phone should have it.

I think it's still a good phone for $250 but just know there are issues with it.

Good points. I'm not telling anyone they should buy this phone if they don't want it. I don't make any money if people buy or not. All I'm doing is asking them to show me what THEY think is a better NEW PHONE for $250.

Nobody has posted one yet.

BTW. I've used Swappa a few times and always good Good quality used phones there. You just have to be patient for a good deal
For $250 almost impossible to beat. The LG G8 ThinQ can be purchased new in box for the same price, but with the 855 processor. Wife uses one and it's been flawless. LG is getting out of the game, so there's that. You can also find some older gen Pixels new in box with older processors. Slower but pure Android and the best cameras in the business. Depends if you want bleeding edge specs, a solid OS, or killer camera.

Make an account then don't complete the purchase and ONEPLUS will most likely send you a code for $50 to your email in about 10 minutes.
tried - didn't work.

At least on ATTs compatibility charts, Oneplus phones from the 6T and up will still work after Feb. Hopefully they don't backtrack!
If ATT back tracks, move to Verizon. It's easy.

I'm surprised because it worked for a few people here last night.

Then just keep trying the code ever so often if you really want the phone. Its worked off and on for the last few days.

Looks like oneplus is trying to get rid of all of them.

When you buy those used/refurbished phones on ebay, you never get the Warpcharge charger, or the needed red oneplus cable.

So plan on those added expenses.
And the warp chargers or cables you get on eBay are mostly counterfeit.

does anyone know if it will work with metro pcs
You can unlock it and it should be fine. Metro uses TMobile right?

I always put Gcam on my phones. It helps out a lot. It's true if the camera is your main function then you should get a Pixel. They also get updates first.

I honestly bought one too many Velvet 5G from T-Mobile. Paid about $31 after taxes. Used it as trade-in to save another $150. My total cost after taxes for One Plus was about $149 with all said and done. Can't complain for a phone with Qualcomm 865 CPU. It's still a beast and only 1-2 generations old and not too behind from 888 in raw performance.

I don't know much about unlocking phones. I currently have Tracfone service and plan to keep it for a long time. I know that Tracfone is an MVNO and offers a SIM kit where you can choose a Verizon SIM, Tmobile SIM, or AT&T SIM.

If I get a Tmobile SIM for my Tracfone service and use that for a year, would I be able to unlock this phone? I'm guessing the answer is no, but if anyone with expertise on this topic could offer any advice I'd appreciate it.

Good deal. I traded in my Oneplus 6t that I bought used and was still very happy with but wasn't going to get anymore updates for $70 plus an extra bonus of $100 so my out of pocket cost was $80 plus tax for a new phone and at least a few more years of updates. It was a no-brainer for me as long as oneplus pays off like they said they would.

Which voucher code did you try? Was it NovoP8?

Try this. It worked for some people

People who have that problem have made an acct with oneplus then went all the way to checkout and left and ONEPLUS sent the a $50 code to their email in about 10 minutes. They went back in and used that code. Might be worth a try.

Why even risk it . Just unlock it when you get it BEFORE you out a Sim card in it? It's very easy to do. It might take a couple if tries for some people but it will work.

This might be easier to understand. Hope it helps.

WITH SIM CARD OUT and CONNECTED TO WIFI here's a good step by step.

Its settings -> wifi & network -> Sim&network -> At the bottom "network unlock". I requested permanent unlock,

It might take a couple of minutes or even fail. If it does fail just do it again until it works

Not the OP. But I think buying new from the manufacturer versus from someone on eBay ( like new, user or whatever) is not a good idea. New units go above $300$-350 on eBay. Plus, bad and blacklisted IMEI could happen well after the sale. Why would someone consider a second hand market?
Have u never purchased from eBay my last 5 phones came from eBay no blacklist and all have been as described and the reason someone would consider ebay is because it could be a better deal am i mistaken about why people come to slickdeals do they come here to buy new products for a higher price slickdeals has linked to used items before one of wich i purchased and works as if new and im 100% possitive that some people dont mind purchasing something that is missing the box but has never been used before in fact some places would lable that new/other not used.
Thanks for sharing though
