OnePlus is a nightmare to deal with. Worst customer support I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Wasted countless hours dealing with support over literally 2 months, had to send my phone in twice and lost a $20 Dbrand skin in the process. Issue was never actually resolved, and they refused to replace the phone. They'll forever be on my shit list now.
Thanks to itxjustin for the steps to make the phone SIM-free (unlocked to use on other carriers).

1. Turned the phone on without sim
---- Connect to WIFI --
2. Went to Settings, Connections
3. Select Network Unlock
4. Select Permanent Unlock
5. Done
6. Update to Android 11
7. Check with a non-TMO SIM to see if you can make and receive calls.
I had this phone for almost a year and a half. It was great at first but now it gives a "not responding" message every so often. Also gets a lot hotter than it used to.... I bought it for $400 awhile ago so I'm not complaining. I love the hypercharge feature, every phone should have it.

I think it's still a good phone for $250 but just know there are issues with it.

I am not sure what you're going on about. The guy asked if it was worth upgrading a Pixel 3 XL to this. I said no, the Pixel 3 XL, from a use perspective, is at least as good overall (except for no 5G). You then go on some tangent about new phones need higher specs. Which is irrelevant to the guy's question.

If I were running a phone company, I'd introduce new specs every iteration, just like all of them do. Because you want to be able to assert your new model is better. It doesn't mean the new model is actually better in any way that matters.
So you would say that the Pixel 6 is no better than the pixel 3x. Is that correct? I mean if specs don't matter then they should be the same quality right. Am I missing something.

You're the one who brought up the fact that specs don't matter not me now you're backing away. Why is that I wonder.

Have a great day

This. Worst customer support experience I've ever had. I eventually engaged PayPal to get my money back after spending weeks playing nice.
Is any company good with customer service anymore? None of them care after the sale. You're lucky if you ever get to speak to a human and then they mostly just read off of a page on their screens.

That won't change until they HAVE TO MAKE IT BETTER.

No, the Pixel 6 is better than the 3XL, primarily in that it supports 5G and it has better camera elements (and a co-processor for AI-based processing).

The OnePlus8 has 5G, but camera-wise, it's not really much/any improvement over the 3XL.

Oh, and the 3XL has free GooglePhotos storage. The Pixel 6 (and OnePlus) do not.

The Pixel 6 is a far better phone than the OnePlus. If this were Pixel 6 for $249.99, I'd say it's a raging deal and a good upgrade.

The OnePlus 8? Nope.

I really wish you could make up your mind. First you day specs don't matter and now you say the specs on the Pixel 6 make it better than the pixel 3.

So which is it . Do specs matter or not.

Let's just forget it. This is a waste of my time

Not the OP. But I think buying new from the manufacturer versus from someone on eBay ( like new, user or whatever) is not a good idea. New units go above $300$-350 on eBay. Plus, bad and blacklisted IMEI could happen well after the sale. Why would someone consider a second hand market?
I almost bought a 'new' phone on ebay last year, I began messaging him about it being unopened spanking new..he said yes yes yes..when i pressed him that id return it if it wasnt..he finally said well...it was opened only to check it.

Therefore..Thanks OP..i grabbed the OnePlus T Mobile..they were out of the green and the rainbow one ughhh..so I settled for black..I bye full jacket cases anyway for them.

Also not a fan of the corner front camera placement. It's more in the way there where on screen buttons are as opposed to the center.
There's an option to add a black bar the top of the screen where the front facing camera is located. The phone's pretty tall, so you can work around the placement if it's bothering you.

Were you able to use the code to get it for $250? Someone earlier said it wasn't working anymore.

Anyone can share the experience with trade-in? I don't see any option under the trade-in tab, it still shows Status: quoted. And they just shipped the phone.

I had this phone for one month at the same price. Really no complaints at all except for no microsd card expansion and 3.5mm headphone jacket. And for those who are wondering the curved screen protector, I order some TPU screen protector and it fits perfectly (although I can not say how safe it can protect the screen.)

Good deal. I traded in my Oneplus 6t that I bought used and was still very happy with but wasn't going to get anymore updates for $70 plus an extra bonus of $100 so my out of pocket cost was $80 plus tax for a new phone and at least a few more years of updates. It was a no-brainer for me as long as oneplus pays off like they said they would.
Could you tell us more on the extra bonus? I tried to checkout but there is no "extra bonus" shown on my trade-in OnePlus 6T, It could be a deal breaker if I just get $70 in the end. Thank you advance.

Nice deal.I wish I would've known about the cash back deal when I got mine. Anyway I got an extra $100 bonus for my trade-in. Good luck with the phone. I got my phone in about 11 days from order date.

I do not have pixel 3 (XL) but I have one plus 6t which uses 845 too. 865 is a level up from 845 no doubt. And one plus 8 has a much better camera than 6t. However, I guess 835 will also have much of the job done in a smooth way (my essential ph-1). So my 2 cents are 865 ≥≥≥ 845 ≥ 835 but 835 is still a great chipset.

That was just a special deal on Black Friday sale. I'm still waiting to get it from the trade-in company.
