Some wins for the RCA:
- The RCA has surprisingly nice metal stands. The Hisense stands are cheap plastic, as is more common for budget TVs.
- Out of the box color looked more accurate on the RCA in some situations, notably greens such as grass or trees, where the Hisense seemed a bit yellowish.
- The size difference between 55" and 58" was more significant than expected.
Some wins for the Hisense:
- The Hisense has wider viewing angles
- The Hisense has darker blacks (local dimming), higher brightness, and higher contrast. The RCA has fairly poor black levels (i.e. it doesn't not get completely black), so it wouldn't be great for viewing at night or in a dark room.
- The Hisense shows more detail in dark areas of the image.
- The Hisense has much better sound. The RCA has no bass at all, so it sounds thin and hollow.
- The Hisense has 4 HDMI ports vs 3 on the RCA
- The Hisense has bluetooth, the RCA does not
Overall the RCA is pretty good for the money. It has a pleasing picture with no major flaws. I wouldn't choose it for my main TV, but for casual viewing I think it would be fine. For movie watching you would definitely want an external sound system.
Personally I chose to keep the Hisense and return the RCA, but given the substantial cost difference, I wouldn't blame someone for choosing differently.
Features:
3x HDMI inputs (1 labeled ARC, the others HDCP 2.2 4k @ 60Hz)
1x composite (no component) with stereo audio input
Ethernet
Analog audio headphone jack
USB port
Optical audio
Box is about 57" long, had no problem fitting it in a hatchback with the back seats down.
Picture looks great, albeit bright at default settings. Of course blacks aren't as deep as OLED due to not having local dimming, but that's overrated IMHO, especially considering the sub-$300 price. Pay $1k for a marginally better picture? Nah not worth it. Roku is ok, I'm not a big fan of that ecosystem but it works fine. They bundle in a bunch of free streaming channels similar to Samsung. Won't look gift channels in the mouth.
The only knock against it is the audio has no bass. Not surprising for any TV. Get a sound bar if bass is your thing.

Please tell me you're joking. You could donate $ to MSF or something to help people who really need help, but you donate TVs to Americans? This must be a joke
If you just need a dirt-cheap TV for secondary usage (guest room, exercise room, etc) and don't care about it looking good, it MIGHT do the job. Just know what you're getting into and be prepared to return it to a store if it is dead on arrival or has serious defects (both issues are more common with RCA-branded TVs than other brands). Warranty service if it fails out of Target's return period is going to be basically non-existent (you need to ship the TV back at your own expense, which is extremely cost-prohibitive).
I'd probably spend a little mode to buy a better, more reliable TV from a reputable brand (even as a secondary set).
After a few days this one's working fine. Hope it holds up for a long while.
