"Practically live on Tums": statements like these are worrisome. There are patients who present to the hospital with severe hypercalcemia, volume depletion, and renal failure which constitute the milk-alkali syndrome (the term originated in the early 1900s when a doc attempted to "cure" GERD by bombarding patients with milk but of course ended up creating a new disease). The symptoms of hypercalcemia are generally vague, like nonspecific abdominal pain; and diagnosis requires laboratory testing, so the actual prevalence of the disease is probably much higher. Anyway, the problem is that Tums is readily available as over-the-counter and presented in different variations, flavors and so forth, and patients often fail to recognize its potential for serious adverse effects. If you're experiencing reflux-type symptoms, Tums are never the answer. If you're above 40, you need an upper endoscopy; otherwise, stop consuming coffee and alcohol, lose weight, and take Nexium (OTC) or a proton-pump inhibitor prescribed by your physician.

you literally dont need this ever, you can take 1/2 tsp baking soda with water as a cheap more effective alternative.

I find the mint flavor to be more soothing than the fruit. Could just be psychological though.

So much so that even though my account has the 35% and I need Tums daily I still didn't order bc the taste is so bad compared to the smoothies

And more thorough too. No hunting down the bottle for a couple more half an hour later.
