I have a couple of these from prior woot sales. They are mediocre at best: the winding handle is tiny, the plug is so big it uses the whole outlet.

Also one was DOA.

12/3-gauge highly visible orange/yellow cable, this range of extension reels provides 4 x 120V sockets (rating of 15 AMP), LED indicator, power switch with safety overload, and a thermal breaker with reset button.

I was thinking about getting the heavy duty metal one with the 1' lead where you add your own cord to it. Any input on that one for $35? Probably still have the small handle still...

One on Groupon is $11 more shipping included and it's a 13AMP yellow chord. Same brand. I've used mine to charge some cars with trickle chargers that were far from my house and ran my dewalt miter saw on it without issues. Had it for about 3years now. Left it outside when I shouldn't have bunch of times for extended periods in the weather and still works perfect. I'd like to get a 75ft one if there was a good sale.

This one is 15 amp according to the specs. Why would you pay more for the groupon one?

Actually you can get the same one on groupon for $70.

Well I don't know why OP only posted to that one item , but there are 11 separate ones in that woot sale. [woot.com]

I'm thinking plastic just because it has USB ports too, but maybe that's dumb. I do feel like the plastic one will break at some point.

Am looking for something like this but leaning toward the one at costco. $11 more but metal and costco. Anybody use the costco one or suggest better for around same price?

I thought this was cool at first, but using a cord while coiled/wound up is never a good idea. The more tightly coiled/wound up, the more likely you are to overheat the wire. Yes, this depends greatly on load and ambient temp, so for some people this wouldn't be an issue.

It does have a thermal breaker, which is good that they've planned for this potential issue, but anyone running a large load would just end up having to constantly reset this, which would be frustrating.

Why they dont show picture of the reeled in cord like in real life? Confused

No matter how I try, it just does not fit in the reel.

I think the Costco one is a safer bet. The return policy is enough to convince me.
