How many other hotels offer free shuttles to the airport? Usually they're smaller hotels with a lot of competition that are desperate for your business. Disney is successful enough that they're not desperate for your business any more.
As to fastpasses, every other theme park company on the planet charges extra money for their line jumping schemes. Why would you expect Disney not to do the same? No longer getting something that you never paid for is not a hardship. No one is forcing you to pay to cut all the other (poorer) people in the queue.
Disney has always been an overpriced, luxury getaway location. Now, they're actually acting like it. I bet those of you who own Disney stock are happy about it, too.
Hey, Mr. Chapek. Nice of you to mingle with us cheapskates on SD.
i hope they offer port transfers to and from the airport.
.
Disney Cruise Line will still be doing airport transfers to Port Canaveral!

If I buy a 10 day ticket, that also makes the lines longer (on those days) than someone who buys a 5 day ticket. I'll get many more rides than those people will. Is that fair?
Clearly, if 1/3 of the parkgoers are choosing to pay for the service, they have decided that it is worth the money to them.
As I said, this is nothing new.
Are you seriously complaining that a luxury vacation that the average American could NEVER have afforded (even when the parks opened 50 years ago) isn't fair?!?
This is what corporations do. This is how capitalism works. It's NEVER fair.

Then how was Iger, CEO for 15 years, able to keep his job with DME running and no pay to ride system? With your rational, the board would have fired him year one.

I'm not saying that it's right. But it's the system we keep supporting and voting for.
The only thing that can keep corporations in check are the courts and governmental regulation. But most people vote for politicians who oppose any regulation of government. And then we complain about the results online -- after it's too late.
All of that is still much much less expensive than one trip to Disney.

Monetizing fastpass and every other small little thing that was once "free" (I use the term free loosely, the price of the overall trip and the money you spent at Disney pretty much covered the expense of most "free" things but you felt good because you got something extra for all the money you spent on the trip)... Is nothing but nickeling and diming the customers.
Like people have said, it's about perception. Charge more for ticket, increase the price of hotels but give us something that makes us feel we are appreciated instead of us feeling like we are cattle being milked for every dime.
You and the CEO of Disney need to read some "How to get people to like you" books. No kidding, I recommend 'How to Win Friends & Influence People' by Dale Carnegie.
