A regular LED strip will allow for one color to be displayed on the entire strip at a time, where as RGBIC can display multiple colors at the same time in various parts of the same strip. This means a rainbow of colors could be programmed to show and move along the strip.

Overall, I find Govee "good enough", but you can spot the quality of a Govee product vs Hue in nearly an instant assuming you've owned both. I define quality first and foremost by color accuracy. This may not matter to a lot of people because RGB lights that exist on their own don't really need to be accurate because it's not trying to match anything else, but if you do more than tape RGB lights on the wall (i.e. use it in interior lighting decor with other lighting, or immersion lighting) color accuracy because very apparent. At a baseline, being able to reproduce basic warm/white color temps is something Govee products just cant reproduce (i.e. 2200k-6000k spectrum)
Also, another dimension of quality I think is generally accepted is luminescence, as cheaper LED's produce less brightness, and Govee's are comparably dim vs hue's. A 3rd dimension of quality would be LED consistency and/or saturation/density (so you don't get weird dim spots and/or that "grid" lighting pattern effect on your wall. Again, Govee is not the greatest in these areas.
Again, I'm not bashing Govee. Ironically I bought this exact same product for my oldest kid for Christmas. I use their products strategically in the right settings, and anywhere I think you just simply want some RGB lights, they're great. It's extremely hard to justify paying the $$ for Hue in a lot of those cases. But to simply say "I would go with Govee over expensive brands" doesn't provide much detail and leads people to assume that somehow Govee is just as good or better than Hue (thats the only brand we're really talking about here) is misguided, outright shill lie, or very malinformed.
Generally posts like his/hers that heap praise on a product saying its better or a preferred choice over something else w/o actually saying why is exactly how shills post (i.e. not facts).

- Lifx, best color, decent app, mediocre integration and connectivity
- Hue, best app and integration, awesome connectivity.
- Govee decent prices on sale, nice floor lamps, bad app. Ok integration and mediocre connectivity.
I have this exact rgbic glide kit which i got as a price mistake ($28). Imo its worth maybe $40 and i dont think id put it on a wall, its too glossy and you can see the seams. The govee app is trash. They really need to work on it, its also full of ads. We have 4 of thier floor lamps and we REALLY like them. But the app... ugh... we mostly control from alexa.
