These were $99 last year during Black Friday. Great set of headphones. Very comfortable, good soundstage, emphasis on bass but not muddy.

These makes for incredible gaming headset if paired with something like the v-moda boom mic.
That has been my setup for a little over a year now. Upgraded from the SHP9500 and these fit my head much better.

I have had these headphones for more than a year now for music and gaming. I was not impressed at first, but now I have a hard time using other headphones because they aren't as good as these ones. Sound quality and comfort are strong factors with these.

Disagree, muddy bloated bass that bleeds into the mids. The X2 has an almost unbeatable soundstage for the price though. I'd recommend the HE-X4 or 58X for the same price and I've owned the X2HR for several years.

I got these headphones two years ago and they are great. Use them with a mic for gaming. The only thing to be aware of is that they are open cans so if you turn up the volume others around you will be able to hear your music. So really for home use where you arent around others

Ordered a 'Used-Like New' set. I have an older set of X2. It would be interesting to see if there is a difference. Planning to give the X2s to my dad.

X2 is a great all-around headphone for the price, but after comparing to Hifiman Sundara, the muddiness becomes very apparent. I was still very happy with them as my main headphone for years.

Currently have both the Hd58x and the X2HR and feel they are both special for distinct reasons. The X2 have amazingly wide soundstage and are incredibly immersive for gaming. The 58x offers a more "in your head" sound but has more detail and feels a bit more balanced and neutral for music.

If I had to get the X2 again for whatever reason, I definitely would. The build quality, comfort, soundstage, no need for an amp, and overall "fun" sound make the X2 worth of trying out imo.

I ordered the X2HR 'used-like new' from the same seller (PHOTOTECH) 2 years ago for $81. The item and packaging basically looked brand new, with very slight damage to the manual inside. The headphones are still working great currently.

I'm gonna install a safe word, so that if I ever feel uncomfortable during the game, I'm gonna say 'Fidelio,' and you guys will know what to do.

I bought these almost a year ago, loved them but there's one flaw in build quality where the ear cups are held in by plastic pins and one of them eventually broke. I found a fix here https://imgur.com/a/aYBd7IC I thought about doing

That doesn't look like much of a fix, to be honest. I would opt for Sugru, moldable plastic, or 3d printing a new adapter.

These cans benefit heavily from third party pads and you can find all sorts of recommendations on Headfi.

I had these a year ago and had the same pin break the day I bought them because they fell off my desk.

40mm vs. 50mm? $85 vs. 126? which is better?
The 40mm option is a different model called L2, I have both, the x2 is definitely better, I rarely ever use the L2, not that they're bad, they're ok, I just have too many sets of headphones and the L2 is not one of my favorites.

What about the SHP9500 vs SHP9600?
The SHP9600 are a sidegrade rather than an upgrade from the SHP9500. They're tuned to be a little more enjoyable for music, but are worse for competitive gaming (FPS, etc). The 9500 emphasize treble quite a bit more, so they're great for recognizing where footsteps and gunshots are coming from, but that emphasis on treble makes music less enjoyable and more fatiguing for some, including myself. I use them for some games, but the pronounced treble is really unpleasant for me with music. You can EQ them, but there are better headphones for enjoying music for the money. The 9600 are a little better for music, but you can get better for the price. I honestly don't see a point to the 9600. Both extremely comfortable, since they have almost no clamping force (they will fall off your head if you move around too much), if you can get over the 90's Honda Civic fabric material on the earcups.
