They are super comfortable and great sounding headphones though, just not worth the upgrade if you already have the SHP9500 IMO.
EDIT: I corrected it from SHP6500 to SHP9500. Woops.

I also have a USB DAC/Amp [amazon.com]. I'm not sure it's entirely needed but I love having a big.. black... knob..... to turn the volume up higher when needed. The bass boost helps also.
However the one downside with these headphones is that one of the two hard plastic attachments (two for each ear pad) that attach the ear pad to the frame of the headphone - that part broke / fell out. Didn't notice it until after the return period and in the US I just don[t see anywhere to get support for spares etc
I bought it a year ago and returned it in a week. Same story with the SHP9500.
Muddy bass, even mid and treble lack clarity, not to mention it is open.
The best phone I bought under $100 is AKG N60NC, which was $60 (twice during the past year or two).
For under $150, nothing comes close to beating this. Personally I have a Fidelio X3 which is lighter and more comfortable, but my old X2's still sound amazing. You don't really need an amp to power this.

Trust me, I have both. Haven't touched my m50 as I just use earbuds when I travel and just use Fidelio X2 for gaming/music/movies etc.
