These were $99 last year during Black Friday. Great set of headphones. Very comfortable, good soundstage, emphasis on bass but not muddy.

You can also buy some nice braided cables for these since the cable is detachable

I really wanted to like these headphones but I just couldn't justify it over the Philips SHP9500. I was hoping these would be an upgrade but after testing them side by side there just wasn't enough difference to justify paying more. I had a couple other people do the same test and they all could not tell much of a difference either.

They are super comfortable and great sounding headphones though, just not worth the upgrade if you already have the SHP9500 IMO.

EDIT: I corrected it from SHP6500 to SHP9500. Woops.
These blow shp9500's out of the water lol. Do you use an amp and a good audio source?

I don't, that could be the problem. Does it make that much of a difference over USB? I'm not an audiophile so I honestly don't know

I'll tell ya this. I'm no audiophile but I do look to that community when I'm in need of a new offering. I remember hearing things about the 9500 when I was finally in the market for decent headphones. I got them, EQ'd them and loved them for years. I broke them after tossing them across the room when the refs robbed the Saints in the NFCCG against the Rams. I bought the X2HR's for about $250 a couple of years ago and with EQ I love them more than the 9500s. Gaming and movies sound great. Music sounds great and it has more bass than the 9500s when EQ'd properly [reddit.com]. They are super comfy as well, with the sheepskin leather pads or the brainwav pads. Get 'em.

I also have a USB DAC/Amp [amazon.com]. I'm not sure it's entirely needed but I love having a big.. black... knob..... to turn the volume up higher when needed. The bass boost helps also.

Ditto here - bought them for 99 bucks on Nov 28th 2019. I think at that price they're a great buy. So good the kids / wife have stolen it from me. (as with the AKG K553 Pro as with the AKG N60C sigh)

However the one downside with these headphones is that one of the two hard plastic attachments (two for each ear pad) that attach the ear pad to the frame of the headphone - that part broke / fell out. Didn't notice it until after the return period and in the US I just don[t see anywhere to get support for spares etc

IMHO this one is overrated

I bought it a year ago and returned it in a week. Same story with the SHP9500.

Muddy bass, even mid and treble lack clarity, not to mention it is open.

The best phone I bought under $100 is AKG N60NC, which was $60 (twice during the past year or two).
Huh? The N60NC is a small closed back headphone with a very limited soundstage. The Fidelio X2's are some of the best (for the price) open back headphones that have great bass response.

For under $150, nothing comes close to beating this. Personally I have a Fidelio X3 which is lighter and more comfortable, but my old X2's still sound amazing. You don't really need an amp to power this.

Tested these and the SHP9500 last year. Ended up getting this and absolutely love them. I use them for music and gaming. Pair great with a boom mic for gaming or zoom meetings.

Ordered a 'Used-Like New' set. I have an older set of X2. It would be interesting to see if there is a difference. Planning to give the X2s to my dad.
I'd like to know your thoughts on that. I own the old x2s and x1s

A few years ago I bought them for $199 from Amazon and while I liked them in the beginning, they literally fell apart on me. Some parts are not well made and they fall apart. I have mine in pieces now!! Very sad.

I have these headphones, I use them with a liquid spark headphone amplifier. Really enjoy these for EDM/RAP music. I have tried them both amp and unamped. I really think these need a headphone amp to sound their best but that is subjective.

m50x is better than this one right?
Not sure if trolling but these are an upgrade from Audio Technica M50/M50x in every way from Clarity/Soundstage/Bass. Only disadvantage to M50x is that this one is open can which means sound will leak from inside and out. (You can hear outside and people can hear what you are listening to.) So x2HR is more for home where as m50x could be carried around since it's foldable as well.

Trust me, I have both. Haven't touched my m50 as I just use earbuds when I travel and just use Fidelio X2 for gaming/music/movies etc.
