Got one. Idk where they get the retail price to be over 200 for this but 60 seems about right. I'm tired of setting up my 8 person tent for 2 sometimes 3 people. Now I can stay with my gf only
This is not an instant tent, but a fast pitch. Somewhere in between a reg tent and an instant tent. As for whether you should return yours or not, I guess that depends on the price you paid. If you paid more than this, and it is not too much hassle, then you might want to. Coleman sundome is probably one of the most owned and used tents in America. Go to any campground and you are bound to see one. Once you are used to it setup can be done in just a few minutes. This one should be easier and faster the first time, but more even after you learn how to do it.
Sundome has slightly more sq footage, so a bit more room for gear, but height is the same, just under 5' (assuming you are looking at 4 person in that one).
Walmart sells it's own brand Ozark trail tent (looks similar) with same size as 3 person tent 7x7
I think it's 28 bucks right now. Do you know if there will be a huge quality difference between these 2.
Walmart's 4 person is 8x8.5 for $39
Yes, Coleman used to advertise their 7x7 as sleeping 3. I have no clue how 7x7 will sleep 4. What a joke.
Depends on what qualifies as "winter" to you. 3 season means it's not good for freezing temperatures, snow, etc. For many, winter is considerably milder.

My very first tent purchase was an Ozark brand tent and it rained the first night camping. We ended up sleeping in the car because the tent leaked water. Returned it and bought a Coleman and its on its 11th year with no issues. Not all tents are the same even within the same brand but just putting in my experience in case it helps.

Where does your gear go? I always find these tight even with 2 people. I am trying to find a nice 6 person.
It's kind of a weird size to me assuming you're using a queen sized air mattress. I've got one that's a similar size at 6' x 8' and there's just enough room at the foot of the bed for a couple of decent sized backpacks and whatever other stuff you want in your tent.
At 7' x 7' and with the sides angled in, I guess you'd have room on the side if you pushed the mattress towards the door, but you may have issues with head and feet butting into the tent, especially if you're tall and/or use a thick air mattress.

Poles are kinda thin but overall weight is less than 5.5lbs, so it's lighter than many tents advertised as backpacking tents.
If you're not backpacking though, idk why you wouldn't get something a little bigger that you could at least stand up in.
