Now I buy batteries only from authorized dealers or distributors like Digikey or Mouser--companies that have direct accounts with the battery manufacturers. The prices can be better than retail too per-unit, though shipping is higher.
Also, check out IKEA for batteries. Their prices are quite good, and the quality is decent.

My complaint is mostly on the small batteries for watches and car remotes. Usually fake.

I bought a large pack of these not long ago and they were def knock offs as they barely lasted any time at all.
My recommendation is all batteries and vitamins, stick with brick retailers as chances of them being knock offs are significantly less than amazon.
This should be on the wiki of every Amazon battery post.
