All bad reviews are user error from applying to the wrong grass, wrong timing, unfavorable conditions, or don't target weeds they have. Granular is also less efficient than liquid if you don't get good and even coverage too. Environmental factors such as heavy rain runoffs or wind can also wash away the active ingredients. Not all weed seeds emerge at the same time either. They can stay dormant for years until favorable sprouting conditions. If you have neighbors who don't take care of their lawn, their weed seeds will most likely find their way to your yard via wind and rain also. Taking care of weeds is a diligent seasonal thing year after year as long as you have grass. You can't completely get rid of it... ever. The best way to prevent them from taking over your luscious grass is to use a pre-emergent to prevent them from emerging in the first place and use a post-emergent as needed to kill off any breakthrough weeds.

Of course it is toxic, to weeds. I think we knew that when we read the title "weed stop", or were you thinking this somehow convinced the weeds to commit suicide?

The toxin, 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid, usually shortened to 2,4-D, also drifts easily and kills nearby plants that were otherwise not problematic. Furthermore, like Roundup, 2,4-D is toxic to aquatic life, as well as birds, bees and pets.

So go ahead and use it and pretend reality doesn't exist.

Not very good reviews. Lots of 1 star.

Is this any good? Or should use the liquid stuff with a sprayer.

For a granular it may be ok, but I moved to Tenacity/Torocity and others to use in spray form for my 10k sq ft of turf in Wisconsin.

Most of these "Weed Stop" products are just very watered down 2,4-D to a very low percentage concentration.

You can buy a bottle of highly concentrated (almost 50%) generic 2,4-D at Home Depot.

I wonder if getting the generic concentrated 50% 2,4-D and just watering it down might be a better deal. Seems like a bottle of that heavy duty stuff would last years, because you'd only use like a small capful diluted in a large sprayer of water.
