To be clear, this h9g does not have 120hz gaming if that matters to you
This is good deal. But I Just bought U8G yesterday.
For anyone thinking to buy 2021 Hisense U6G, this is TV is way better than U6G. So buy this.
Infact if you do not care about 120Hz display and HDMI 2.1, you can better buy this than U7G.
8.4 out of 10 ratings. Wow.

Played with it and used some calibration settings. The color accuracy is amazing! I'll share my settinga for those with 4k firesticks since the tv isn't setup for 4k dobly vision out of the box. . First goto picture TV settings then hdmi 2.0 format. Set it to enhanced. Next go to your fire sticks display setting, under display and sounds/display. Set a video resolution to auto. And color depth to 12 bits. Go back to the TVs picture settings, from top to bottom. Under backlight set local dimming to high. Set picture mode to Dolby Vision bright. Under advanced settings, set color temperature to low, motion enhancement to film and active contrast to high. Do that and compare it to the oem settings. The blacks are very black. Colors pop And everything will look sharp and smooth
Got mine this morning and followed your settings and it looks amazing! I did stick to medium-high color temp. I'm currently using an Apple TV and so far so good 👌

Good info. I always use fire stick and suggest to use roku or firestick. At least none of my tvs runs as smooth as a tv stick which you would buy for may be 30$. Any one who gets h9g or h8g on sale can get a stick for cheap. Indeed I got one on sale for 25$ which probably will be used for this tv if I get Wink
I have two Roku Ultras I use and another Roku we use on a spare room TV.

However, I find that the Hisense 55U8G, for whatever reason, the picture quality is just somewhat better using the internal apps instead of Ruku via the HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 inputs.

It is almost as though the gamma is off a bit which results in a less saturated and slightly washed out image from the Roku no matter tweaking the settings.
My wife does not see it unless I point it out, but my eye does. It's not grossly unwatchable, but not as true as using the internal apps.

I will say that the Roku user interface is still somewhat more responsive, and way more responsive on my 2019 Hisense 55H8F. Hisense should have used a better processor in the 2019 models. .. . but to be honest, the price was only $399.99 back then. So for $400 plus $50 for a Roku Ultra (Black Friday deal), it is fine. I have an older Firestick but have not tried it yet. Not sure it is worth it at this point.

I fine tuned my settings since and also changed some things on my firestick.

Firestick settings
On display video resolution to auto, color depth to 12 bits and changed dymanic range to adaptive. Changing the dymanic range to adaptive allows the h9g to automatically change to what ever is playing on the firestick. It's either SD, HDR, Dobly vision or HDR+.

Tv settings
I used the same settings for all 4 picture modes I listed.
Backlight local dimming to high 100 turned on automatic light sensor and set it to 20
Picture mode depends on what's playing. I set it to one of the following, standard, dobly vision custom, HDR + theater
All levels are set the same on each picture mode
Contrast 50 Brightness 50 Color 50 Tint 0 Sharpness 10 hdmi2.0 enhanced,
Under advanced color temp medium, motion enhancement standard, motion clearness off Noise reduction Medium, digital noise red medium and active contrast medium

Took a while to get these settings tweaked to my liking. SD content now looks better. Still SD but not as bad as when trying to force dobly vision. Hope this helps

Looks like that many did not have noticeable ghosting here which is good news. So It may deserve a try. if picture quality gain from 55h9g deserve it to be 100$ more than 55u6g then it is a very good deal for those who are looking at 55u6g deal for just under 400$. Or h8g1 from amazon

OK man....than why do you have dozens and dozens of posts in all of these Hisense threads ? DUH...YOU WORK FOR HISENSE ! Everyone knows it...go create another user account and start over.....
Because SD's keeps emailing about comments and I feel I have to call out people like you for expecting a 5 star item for a 3 star price. It's a chronic overreaction on SD and does a great dis-service for folks who can't otherwise afford a big tv. No one's sticking up for any brand but you somehow think people buying a Ford should feel they're entitled to a Lexus for the price of said Ford. In no Universe does that BS even make sense. At this price, most people would say it's a fantastic deal, get over yourself and stop telling others how to feel because of your clear shortcomings. A reliability issue is something everyone would be interested in hearing about. A one in a million frame glitch isn't even in the same ballpark and wouldn't mean much to most people at twice this price.

If I could get this TV at $400, I would buy this at the drop of a dime. Maybe I might get lucky this coming Black Friday.

Got mine today. Compared to u6g whites are whiter than u6g. U6g white is just a bit yellowish. Rest mmm have not noticed that much difference. Color accuracy mmm same as u6g and not as good as Sony line. It is a little brighter also a little more blooming. Interestingly it still has the same banding (horizontal ones) as u6g when looking at light grey or blue. Though does not have bright area around the panel when looking ar light grey or blue. Still too soon to say the final words. Have not tested for motion yet.

I won't get it set up for a week or two. My wife doesn't like the smell of new platics (allergy). It will sit in the garage until then. Sigh...

Ha. Darn. I'm not sure if I could even leave it in the garage right now even if I had to... -15F today.

Debating between going with this or waiting another week or two for what comes up for NFL Super Bowl sale.

IMO and especially now and processor chip shortages of one sort or another, there more be more clearance deals after Super Bowl and Basketball season and the Winter Olympics. Expect new TVs to be higher priced.
A lot of People are holed up in the homes for the winter in many regards, so TV is the great escape and TV sellers know this.
I think the best clearance prices will be seen in late February and onward.

Ok after looking into the tv for like 2 days I have to say that the local dimming and contrast (whites and blacks) and motion on h9g is better than u6g. Color accuracy of both are same or very similar and is not like a Sony TV. H9g has better whites. U6g white has some yellowish tint. Ghosting may appear in some scenes so you need to decide if want the good contrast for cheap or not having ghosting and go for u6g. But looking both next to each other the contrast of h9g for the price is so tempting. Colors are not bad but not accurate and you can not make them 100% as accurate as something like sony with calibration. If you watch HDR brightness is very important. if SDR you can get a sony with less brightness and better color accuracy and motion. Sony with higher brighness and better motion is available but more expensive. If want to go cheap and still have high brightness then you should except problems as well. H9g and u8g may have some ghosting and u6g does not have the premium great local dimming of h9g.
