I never see any of their scales on sale. It's only a few bucks, but I figured I'd share.

From what I read, this one doesn't have any meaningful features that you can't get from a similar $20 scale. They're not totally a gimmick, but you have to take the results with a huge grain of salt.
Even the very expensive segmental multi-frequency scales (which this is not) can be inaccurate, and are probably best used to keep track of trends.

So the inexpensive vs expensive bathroom scale with fat measurement are all the same? I understand I can monitor the trend but any difference for paying up?

I bought this for the wife. We had a fitbit aria before this had issues connecting, recognizing different users, no auto update to app. This one is nice for the tracking part of it. Auto updates to app over wifi, don't even need phone near after initial setup. Auto recognizes different people.

The expensive ones (like InBody and some Tanitas) have much better body composition analysis. Segmental analysis is the first step up, then multi-frequency.

Keep in mind, most $20 scales are just Bluetooth. If you are trying to track your weight it's much better to have Wifi, so you don't have to have the app open to record it like you do with Bluetooth.

Sure, there are a lot of different features. Though IIRC with my old Wyze scale, it made the bluetooth connection when the app wasn't open. But the results fluctuated so wildly that it was useless anyway.

Interesting, didn't know it did that. Everything I read said the app had to be open.

Maybe it did. I know it's possible to run bluetooth as a background service in Android, but I don't clearly remember if the app did. Since the scale stored its values and connected when the phone was available, it didn't make much difference. I didn't need the values on the phone until I opened the app, and I would usually have been in range in the house. But like I said, the scale failed on the fundamentals, not the features.

Wyze app has to be open; confirmed by an owner. This doesn't require that.

Should be illegal for scales and exercise equipment to have weight limits…

I hope you were kidding with that comment?
I suppose it should be illegal for doors to have widths also? I'm 6'6" 230lbs and don't fit in many places, automobiles, clothes. I exceed weight limit on plenty of things. Does it suck at times yes, is it anyone else's responsibility NO.

There's a target demographic in which 99% of customers fall into. Not in their interest to spend 20% more R&D for 1% that won't return on investment.

FYI, for what it is wyze is better value to $$$, with maybe a few less whistles. https://slickdeals.net/f/15574612-wyze-smart-scale-s-scale-for-body-weight-and-bmi-body-composition-analyzer-20-38?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1
