there really should be some algorithm that tells us if the ram is soldered or not on every laptop deal post
How about you read up on how far OLED has come on laptops now instead of passing baseless and idiotic verdicts?
And Asus is one of the best to manage the OLED burn in issue. I know numerous people who have owned an Asus OLED laptop for 3 years at least without having any burn in issue.

This, right here, is a pretty good deal.

I bought the oled model before xmas and love it. The screen is beautiful. Most of the negative comments are from people that don't know what they are talking about. Burn in is only an issue if you leave static images on the screen for very long periods of time at high brightness, even so there are several built in software routines to minimize the chance, even in that case. RAM of 8gb is unlikely to be an issue for anyone other than extreme gaming or video editing or gigantic spreadsheets or crypto mining. I have an Atom powered laptop with a 32gb ssd and 2gb ram that runs 32bit win10 just fine for web browsing video streaming email and any other common tasks I've thrown at it.

Both models say they have a fingerprint reader in the description. The OLED model does NOT have a fingerprint reader, it uses Windows Hello facial recognition for loggin access.

One of the nicest features is charging via USB C, there is no dedicated power port or charging brick.

One is vivibook, while other is a zenbook. Zenbook has better build quality. Similar comparison can be dell inspiron vs xps
Thanks. Didn't know that, and it's a legit reason for some to lean towards a Vivibook. Personally, I prefer the superior RAM, storage and screen size vs a lesser machine that happens to have a stamped aluminum shell, but at least now I understand why others might feel differently.

The memory is soldered.

If you wanted 32GB of memory you need to pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I don't care how good of a deal something is... if it does not have 16GB of memory or if you can not upgrade the memory... stay away.

And about the OLED screen. I am more worried about the flicker and eye strain then the burn in.

I am on excel for about 6+ hours a day... I would not get an OLED. But if you are getting it just to have... I think OLED will be fine.
This is the basic story of laptops —what you like about them depends on what you use them for If you travel a lot you care about weight . If you are a video editor or hard core gamer you prefer a tricked out machine with a larger screen no matter what it weighs. So comments on laptops should mention what kind of user you are as was done here. That way when gamers comment on business laptops and vice versa the reader knows what the commenter's priorities are.

Lol, everyone is bitching about OLED and burn-in. How about the fact that it's a nonstarter to begin with having 8gb ram. You launch a handful of chrome tabs and there goes most of available ram.... Launch video and God forbid any editing tools and you're taken back to the stone age. In 2022 selling the laptop with 8gb ram should be illegal.

sure.... form factor can be fined tuned towards your needs. But certain thing will remain the same and it is the bare minimum.... so 16gb is the bare minimum anyone should have if u r buying a windows PC... but u can always up grade if not soldiered.

My favorite way to buy is with no ram or hardrive or os....

memory is soldered onboard, there is no empty slot whatsoever. So NO memory upgrade options here.

If you refer to the stone age as yesteryear then yes it would step you back a year, if anything more than that then you're an ignorant who has no idea how a laptop works, esp in this day and age.

Opening chrome tabs, applications, etc doesn't only depend on the RAM now. With the inclusion of SSDs (esp PCIe NVMe), that function is shared to an extent, not to mention the processor plays a role in that too.

I bought a Lenovo yoga c940 with an i5-1035G4 and 8gb RAM back in early 2020. It flew through everything and anything that I intended to use it for (numerous chrome tabs and applications) but yes definitely not video editing because it wasn't my intent and a video editor won't even buy an 8gb RAM laptop in the first place.

For majority of the common men who need a laptop for general productivity and a bit more, 8gb RAM would be absolutely enough for a few years.

It's better to educate yourself than jump on the "oh 8gb RAM should be illegal, blah blah" bandwagon.
