and 100% agree, propane and gas lanterns are better, but not for running indoors when there's a power outage...

so many angry people out there... amazing...I guess they can continue to burn books for a light source during a brownout...
D batteries may seem old, but they are reliable. They have ridiculous capacity and keep 85% of that charge for a DECADE. A lipo thats dead when you need it, because you were "going to" recharge it is worthless. This is a better pack & forget option with a dozen D cells. Rechargeables for daily/regular use make more sense, I'll grant you that.

You can get a Coast EAL22 for a few $ more. Much higher quality light, more features from a reputable manufacturer.
