Quote from PoorFatKid :
Make note that these start/stop ROs with no storage/tankless do not make the quality and product to waste ratio when first turned on. It has to run for a bit to reach the advertised specs. The quality of first few cups of water will not be what you'd expect based on the specs they provide and more water will go down the drain.

Mine had to run for about 45-50 seconds, many times longer, to get the TDS down to what my system with storage gives me right from the get go. The less you use it the worse it is. After sitting for a weekend I had to run at least a few gallons thru it to get the TDS back down.

With that said, if you don't measure the quality or the waste stream you'd probably not notice but to me that defeats the whole purpose to having one.

Wasn't for me. Switched back to the tanked system with generic filters.
Please forgive the extraordinarily old bump to this thread, but I'm currently looking for a solution to provide low (zero) TDS water in an under-sink system that I can use both for drinking water, and more importantly, for my reptiles and aquariums. I have a classic four-stage attached to the hosebib outside and I really just want to get something that fits under the kitchen sink. Do you recommend your system? What system do you use?
