I'd say that considering Asimov wrote this in 1950 (way before computers) he did an unbelievable job of creating a futuristic world. Is hyperspace not futuristic enough for you?

Foundation is a brilliantly imagined world.

Come on man. It takes place only 10,000 years in the future. I want my Sci-Fi to be set at least 50,000 years in the future, preferably 100K+.
Wrong. Per Asimov, Foundation takes place around 50,000 years in the future. Hari Seldon was born in 47,000 CE.

Wooooosh.

I hadn't reviewed the precise Foundation series timeline in a while, but it has been well established in the books that the events of Foundation and Empire take place nearly 22,000 years in the future or about 23,853 AD - 23,949 AD.

Not futuristic enough for my taste.

Foundation is on Apple+. I made it some episodes in, but when they started to give backstories into flat characters I didn't care about, I stopped watching. In its defense, I think some of those characters are supposed to be self-obsessed and boring; sci-fi tends to be a desert of character development in the universe of literature.

Great read. For the more frugal and patient SDers, most libraries have both physical and electronic copies available

You think small. I want my SciFi to take place 4 billion years in the future. After the next big bang.

Nice. Like an "Afterbang" type of thing. Needs a pitch meeting. Peace

This is a great deal. Usually you can only find a discount on Foundation and the rest are 8 bucks.

Considering the time he wrote this Asimov did an incredible job of mostly not dating himself save for all the "tapes." It's really a timeless series IMO.

After "Young Sheldon", Sheldon grows up and is in the original "Big Bang", which is in the past, not 4 billion years in the future!

I could not agree more. It's only like it superficially. I think they tried to broaden its appeal and ended up diluting it, it's obvious it's not made by a true fan of the series. They should have been more faithful like Dune not less like Cowboy Bepop.
