At this point, $99 is the normal price. It's been like that for at least 6 months.
Yeah, returned my black Friday one when it was $70. It's not good.

Ordered mine on 1/23, just got shipping notice for delivery tomorrow. So "Ready to Ship" means "We'll get it to you in 7 weeks or so".

But have you used a chromebook before? I've had them for 10 years, one was my main computer until my eyes started getting bad (it was one of the smaller varieties) I think I understand what everyone is talking about but since I've used one for a long time and my kid has used chromebooks for school I'm hoping we're more familiar with the os.
The 10e was my first Chrome OS.

I wanted to install Youtube Vanced (found out you can't), I wanted to side load a bunch of apps (found out you can but you need to leave your tablet in developer mode?), I wanted to install Gboard which I did but I need to watch a video on how to do this. It took me like 20 minutes to figure out how to get to OS updates. I had to read info about streaming in HD.

Bottom line, there was a learning curve. But in truth, it was not that bad.

My biggest worry is that I've been using SwiftKey since way before Microsoft bought it. Everything else is a non issue for me. I pay for YouTube premium with "family" wink winl nudge nudge. And I don't really want it for streaming. I legit just want to limit use of my phone because I drop it too much lol. I really like this phone and haven't liked anything that's come out since so I'm trying to keep it in good shape lol. $99 to do that is probably a good investment.

I find gboard better then swiftkey but they are both very similar. I don't think you can install swiftkey but you can install gboard.

On phone now, after telling me to wait until 3/15, I now am being told to wait until 3/28. (I ordered on 1/16). At this point, my goal is to just waste as much time as possible on this.

OK, just got my new 10e about 30 minutes ago.

The first thing I did right after setup was update a few apps and go to OS updates. It wanted me to restart the tablet, so I did. The second it restarted...
1. I opened Chrome
2. I hit the three verticle dots on the top right
3. went to Help (bottom)
4. went to "About Google Chrome"
5. New Tab opens and in the middleish of the page, you hit "Chrome OS Settings"
6. Now you hit either "restart", "download", etc...
I expect to do this again and this may take about 45 to 1 hour. I really don't touch it while it is doing the updates.

You have to repeat this like 3 times before it is totally up to date.

After my tablet is completely up to date, I will go to this youtube video, I use this video, some settings may be slightly different on our 10e but this is the video that helped me install Gboard.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXOAMnBBE4Y

After gboard, I go to Chrome and search Chrome Store, I then go to the Chrome store and download a add blocker for Chrome, I usually download the most popular model.

Now I am ready for apps and games. One of the apps that I always install is a memory clearer. I have used "killapps" and I have used ""app killer and manager", you download it from the app store. In my other 10e, I use killapps but I fee it does not work amazing (the OS seems to be fighting it and it takes much longer then it should).. so I will probably try "app killer and manager". You should run this app once a day or once a week or once every two weeks, when you run it make sure you have no other apps opened. I use this for my Chromebook and Android devices, every one including my Pixel 6 Pro and Samsung Tab S8+ (kill apps did not work right so I use app killer and manager for the Tab S8+).

If you had a Chromebook before, google will install all your previous apps in the background and it takes awhile... be patient. This tablet does not function well until it is fully up to date and no more apps are being installed.

ENJOY
