You'd be surprised. I've jumped many friends cars with something like this. Way easier than grabbing cables and moving cars
Close to 0%. But these don't need to be fully charged to function. I have a similar device that was sitting in my trunk for close to a year that was able to start my car with a dead battery in the middle of the night.
For years all of our cars have had a jump-starter like this one and I recharge them (more like top their charge up as they've never been fully discharged) every six months, or after using them, and they've never let me down. They've come in handy many times (more often for easily jumping someone else's car). It's still amazing to me that something so small can jump start a car! I think having one of these is a no-brainer.

Heck, my wife made fun of me when I bought one for her car a few years ago. She sort of patiently watched me show her how to use it before I put it in her trunk. A few months later she had a dead battery when she was out and about. AAA said they could be there in 45 minutes. Thankfully she remembered how to use it (it's easy) and was back on the road in minutes. She has sung it's praises ever since.

The convenience of this (the tool, I can't speak to this brand/model) destroys cables. Hell, I used one last week in my own driveway (kids left a lamp on) when our other car was right next to it. I've also had mishaps with jumper cables so I like that I don't connect my vehicle to whatever mess the other person has going on and most of them have safety features so if it is hooked up wrong it just won't work. It doesn't discharge fast and doesn't need much to start a car.

You do you but I don't know a single person that prefers jumper cables once they've tried one of these.

Careful how you use the term "destroys"…seems to confuse your overall message haha

I didn't give a URL, I just named the brand, its (DB) decibal shortform + power. Not sure why names are getting censored on here, maybe the company involved in genocide? Anyways, not sure how different all these power packs are, but shop around, for this much you want a bigger battery pack that's usb-c in/out. Costco nice because if it breaks 2 years later can take it back unlike HomeDepot / Walmart where its 90 days but better than Amazon which is just 30 days.

Look at this one on Walmart, it even has an A/C port 100W inverter built in! You could use it to power a tire inflator, cellphone, portable fridge etc. for $59. That's definitely worth the extra $19 cost.

I want to like it, but.. tell me that thing doesn't charge via a USB-A port. How many people have USB-A to USB-A male to male cables around. WTF couldn't put a C port on it??

What are the chances that you have a dead battery in the middle of nowhere out in future AND you have a fully charged one of these jump starters in your trunk ready to rescue?

I think the general recommendation I've heard is to set a reminder to bring it in and charge it every 3 months or so to keep it topped off. Maybe a bit more frequent if you are in more extreme temps.
I have one of different version of these from Amazon and I usually charge on my drive of an hour or more probably 2-3 times year and it stays charged when needed couple of times ,specially in East coast winters.

I concur with the sentiment that these work great. But I've always wondered how they get by with such small cables and such high amp ratings. Even at that length, hundreds of amps would fry the cable.

Which makes me think it's important to leave them connected for a few minutes to charge the dead battery... just like we do with traditional cables. Move the electrons over BEFORE you need them.

Anyone have experience with this? I don't recall my instructions asking for a waiting period.

Tempting but we already have one in each car and they're good enough for our needs. The thing with these is that you have to check up on them and top them off now and then as they slowly lose charge, albeit not that fast since they're LiOn. But far worse, some go bad eventually and bulge and are useless when you need them and dangerous to recharge at that point, so instead of solving a problem they might actually become one.

But when they're charged and working, they're godsends. It's still a good idea to keep a set of jumper cables in your trunk (and an emergency kit suitable to your location and driving routes along with a basic tool kit, jack, blanket, water, energy bars, etc.). But these are so much nicer to use than cables.

I can't speak for this one but I have a tekpower or something. Anyway it doesn't sit there and send electrons over for a few minutes before you try starting it. You connect to the battery and press a button. I believe at that point the internal battery is charging a capacitor. After a few seconds it beeps and says it's ready. You get in the car and hit the key. You get a few seconds of cranking time. After that the device has a cool down timer that you can't bypass. You have to wait before you can try again.

The only time it didn't work for me was my truck that sat for two years. The battery was so flat that the device wasn't enough. But for every car battery that was just low enough it couldn't start the car, these things work great.

Yeah, good description. I wonder how the jumper knows that the starter is engaged. It must sense the drop in voltage and then it pops the capacitor.

I'll see how warm the wires are next time. Maybe they just get warm since they don't get used very long... so full amp rating isn't required.

These things seem to not like me. I keep them charge but I also keep it in the car. Several times here in Chicago when it was colder than -10 it failed me when I needed it.. made sure I had solid connections and everything. On a 4cyl crv. Tried 2 diffent brands from costco. Someone told me these needs to be warmed up before they can perform.

I can see that you already have had several responses.

I think that one thing to keep in mind is that this is not lead-acid. So these can last much longer without needing to be charged. I pull mine out of the trunk and top off the charge about once a year. You can even just lay it in the passenger seat and charge via the cigarette lighter if you want to.

350A is not good. I buy and sell cars and usb jump starters are awesome. But I'd spend a little more and get a 1000A off Amazon on one of the frequent sales. I've had quite a few different no name brands and all have been good (they had reviews) for $50-65. The best I have is a rack life for $50 it is a 1500A but they got banned from Amazon

I bought this jumpstarter and it was crap. Replaced it with a "type s" one that they also sell and it's way better
