It's misleading. It technically just means it can support HDR10 content, not that it can display full HDR10 standards.
I've had this and have been using it daily for work and gaming for over a year. Runs fine to spec without a single dead pixel. The only issue I have with it is that it can't get as bright as most other monitors (only 250 cd/m2) so if you like a lot of sunlight in your space, it may not be the best choice for you.
Nope. That's just the recommended peak brightness for HDR10. HDR10 capable means it can process the HDR input signal and map the colors. (see the "no rules" peak luminance for HDR10: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hig...ange_video). While HDR10 movies may be mastered for 1k-4k nits, a display can have a peak of 500 nits and just remap those brighter colors to that smaller range that it can output.

IMO, IPS + HDR is gonna look real bad with IPS panels' typical, less than 1000:1 contrast ratio. That said the expanded brightness isn't the only thing that HDR brings. You also get higher bit depth of color and smoother gradation as well as colors not included within the sRGB range (read: new colors).

Clearly this is good for gaming and media in general, but how is the color accuracy? is it good enough to edit videos on?

It's always nice to see that Rtings did a review of any HDTV or montior you're looking at, seems like it's pretty decent for media creation but maybe not the best:

I'm super tempted to buy this since I mainly need something for gaming/office use.

This was my post! I love my monitor and it was well worth it. Hard to get these specs for this price. Viewing angles are fine doesn't need to be curved imo

How come it says hdr10 in the description. I thought it's supposed to be capable of 1000nits to be hdr10

Not a fan of Acer monitors. Picture is decent, but they crap out vastly faster than my Dell and LG monitors (last one didn't make it past 18 months). You can find a very similar monitor from other, better brands for similar prices. I'd stay away from this one.

I've owned this for over a year as well. No complaints overall. It's a little tough to calibrate for super-accurate video editing, but nothing I'm doing is all that professional anyway. For gaming it's stellar and plenty bright unless you have it with a window directly behind it at sunrise IMO. No dead pixels. I've had it on both AMD and NVIDIA cards with both running Freesync/G-Sync wonderfully, all that. For $350 I think it's a great buy. My 2¢

As someone getting back into PC gaming how does this compare to the gigabyte m27Q I purchased for same price based on Rtings review (they never seem to let me down with honest reviews)

Edit: forgot you can compare in rtings
"The Gigabyte M27Q and the Acer Nitro XV340CK Pbmiipphzx are both great gaming monitors. However, they're also quite different. The Gigabyte is a 27 inch, 16:9 model, while the Acer is a 34 inch ultrawide with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The Gigabyte performs better gaming-wise because it has a better response time. It also has better build quality, wider viewing angles, and gets brighter to combat glare. The Gigabyte has a much wider color gamut, with near-full Adobe RGB coverage, making it a better choice for content creation. Lastly, it has more features than the Acer, like USB-C input and a built-in KVM switch. "

That one is VA.

I prefer a curve at this size but I would definitely pick a flat IPS panel over a curved VA unless it's a really high-end one i.e. Samsung Odyssey.
