I've had mine for years with zero issues. If I had to do it again I'd get a longer one though.

It is a little heavy to hold as compared to the one from Little Giant sold at Costco.

So you'll pay double for something that (most likely) came off the same assembly line. That brand name sticker is part of the metal tempering process so the money is well spent.

I've had this ladder for about a year. I've never owned a Gorilla or Little Giant ladder but I find this one to be very sturdy (and like others have mentioned, also heavy). Definitely meets my basic homeowner needs. It's also fairly compact when completely folded but that's not unique to this ladder. Would I use this for daily commercial purposes? In that case I'd probably spring for something a bit tougher/more reputable, but Harbor Freight is for homeowners and DIYers.

I had purchased the telescoping ladder from HF and returned it for this ladder as I found out that I needed a more versatile ladder. This ladder is sturdy and on the slightly heavier side but it's done the job well, so far. I even got a price adjustment of close $50 bc the price changed to this deal of $99. If you're not looking to spend too much, this ladder gets most if not all your household needs accomplished.

The 18' Gorilla brand goes on sale at this price so not really a great deal.

Note that this is 17' reach, which probably means a max ladder length of only 14' or so. Why don't they show that in the specs?

Edit: If this ladder is only 14', that is just barely tall enough to safely get you on a single story roof (assuming a 10' eave height). If your gutters are higher, get a longer ladder.

No way these came off the same assembly line. They are similar in design, but not the same aluminum profile and completely different latching mechanisms so they could not possibly run on the same line.

Not sure if able to be used with this item, but here's a coupon:
https://slickdeals.net/f/15627994-harbor-freight-20-off-presidents-day-sale?p=153571279&posted=1&com...
That coupon would reduce the price from $150 to $135 ($120 if you paid for their insiders club).

These types of ladders all do roughly the same. Granted I don't have any personal experience on this & have based this on the web: https://youtu.be/AvN0jNCf51A?t=847

From what I can see, the Harbor Freight (HF) is more closely similar to the Werner.

The biggest different between Werner & Gorilla is how they do scaffolding mode.

To do scaffolding with Gorilla requires you to purchase some brackets (that don't come with the item). Werner & HF doesn't require you to purchase anything else for scaffolding mode.

Things to note...
  • All of the manufacturers will require you to purchase or make your own planks for the scaffolding.
  • Once you purchase & use the "scaffolding" brackets for Gorilla, the part where you use the brackets seems a LOT more sturdy then Werner & HF.

I didn't say to what brand. No way HF is commissioning the manufacture of its own products. Would be much cheaper for them sub this out to a manufacturer that is already producing the same thing for 80 other companies. This is clearly the same B-vendor knock off of the Little Giant and appears identical to a ladder I bought from Lowes.

My point is: the name Harbor Freight does not make this magically dangerous.

It's not what ladder you use, it how you use it.

That's one of the reasons holding me back. We've also seen the 22' Werner at this price.
