Great price and very tempting but the ASBL (auto brightness limiter) setting ruins this as a computer monitor. Just read the Newegg reviews and it's a deal breaker for me. If you are only going to use this monitor for gaming it's probably fine but if you want to do office work on it as well the ABSL setting is super annoying apparently and there is no way to disable it. Alot of people mention this as the big annoyance on this screen and several call it a deal breaker, anytime the screen doesn't since major changes in the picture like if you're reading an email or typing a document it will dim the screen.

From the Newegg reviews:

"With most OLED products, the screen dims as the dimensions of white space increases (e.g. if you go from a small white window and expand it to full screen, the entire screen dims). Auto-dimming can be annoying at times / It's way too aggressive

This guy from the Newegg review explained it the best:

"Auto dimming of the panel due to lack of major activity (ASBL) kicks in after 5 minutes on the Display Port and after only 90 seconds on HDMI ports. The Display Port also seems to have higher sensitivity to activity than the HDMI ports. This means that if you're running on Display Port, you probably won't notice it much but if you use the HDMI port, it's UNBEARABLE! I use both ports, one for work computer, one for home computer, then use the KVM feature.

ASBL (auto dimming due to low activity) is like a built-in firmware screen saver. It's there because OLEDs have the same potential for burn-in as old CRT monitors. The reason why this is a problem is because it needs a major change on the screen to make it think that that you're still there. So things like scrolling forum posts or typing an email are not enough of a change for it to know that you're still there and it'll start dimming the screen until you can't see it anymore, WHILE YOU'RE TYPING! It's even dimmed on me while on video conference calls. Even though the person is moving and talking, they're apparently not moving enough to prevent ASBL (this is using the HDMI port).

ASBL is unnecessary on a monitor because computers have built-in screen saver and power saving functions. My laptop has an OLED screen and it doesn't have ASBL, I've been using that for years with no burn in. This is an unnecessary old precaution that can safely be eliminated, imo.

The fact that the Display Port has a different ASBL algorithm than the HDMI port shows that not a lot of effort has gone into the firmware development or QA yet. I mean, if they don't want to give us the ability to disable ASBL, at least copy paste the Display Port config to the HDMI ports in a firmware update."
I think the bad customer service combo of Newegg + Gigabyte kills this
I hate rebates but this is a DEAL!

Unfortunate. This guy has never even seen the monitor and is basing his posts on a couple Newegg reviews. As has been posted the ASBL can be fixed easily according to reddit. I ordered this to replace my 30" office monitor and I'm not worried at all

Nice, except honestly I can't remember the last time I actually received a rebate check from a mail-in rebate that I sent out.
The key to those rebates is double and triple check all the requirements. Don't miss any details and always register on the rebate site. I have gotten every rebate I've ever sent out.

Not just Newegg reviews, numerous reviews accross multiple sites talk about the ASBL issue. Also the rtings review mentioned the same exact issue and didn't mention anything about a fix. The "fix" according to the reddit post is to reduce the contrast setting on this monitor and it will help limit ASBL from kicking in. Hard to believe so many reviewers on Newegg/Amazon/Rtings.com that are knowledgeable about products didn't mention anything about just reducing contrast to prevent ASBL. If this deal was from a local retail store I'd take a chance and get it knowing I could easily return it...but with the size of this box and Newegg having a bad rep lately on this forum for returns, I'm passing on this deal. Just wish this was a Costco/Walmart/bestbuy deal so return would be easy.

It wasn't just that issue, it was this auto shut-off warning that some have mentioned:

Newegg has a zero dead pixel return policy which makes me comfortable with a DOA but yes Gigabyte requires you to pay shipping for repairs so that's not as great as the LG but for $400 less you get some trade-offs.
Newegg's policies are worthless. They changed their policies after I had purchased something and refused to honor their old one. Total scam artists and have been for years. Don't let their old reputation fool you.

Linus, a man who has access to pretty much any hardware he would want, loves the monitor and is keeping it as his main home monitor. But if you don't care about his opinion you can jump to 6:43 where he demos the ASBL issue. It's really not that bad. People will complain about anything.

For the asking price, that is just inexcusable. Similar to the endless saga of Samsung G9 owners, although at least based on anecdotal reporting the recent firmware releases addressed some of their grievances.

Looks like just a rare bug and the OP of that post even says it can be cleared by pushing any button on the remote. If these are the huge issues causing this $1500 monitor to be available to us for $800, fine with me

This. You're gonna get scammed and then they'll deny your claim. I got scammed by them, sold me a doa psu and ssd. Sent it back to them. They lost it in their processing center and refused my claim because they never inspected it. I filed a charge back with my credit card company. Don't get scammed by them.

if i am not mistaken, both hdmi 2.1 ports on this monitor is only 24gbps, even lower than the crippled ps5 hdmi 2.1 port which sits at 32gbps. Just throwing it out there if anyone looking at this to pair with next-gen console.
