Agree, sort of. Note though, there are colorways that are about $75 on both women and men variants but those don't qualify for additional 20% off. The $90 colorways are after 20% off and shows that it works on sale items. These are many school color themes, which is a specific target audience.

Peg 38s haven't seen lower than $75 since Thanksgiving ($67). Peg 37s have been lower so that's always an option.

The real deal are the Vapors and Alphas in my mind Smilie

I would also note that the $130 for the Endorphin Pro 2 is FP worthy. That's a $200+ carbon-fiber plated shoe with great performance. I'm surprised this isn't getting more notice lol. The only problem there is the limited sizing left.

Are you a shoe guy? just curious why these shoes fetch too much! I mean if you're putting 150 miles like the Saucony one I get it's a great investment. But, other than color and it being "cool" what's so special about these Nike shoes that fetch this much? Are you running faster as a result, feel lighter for longer strides? Not trying to be a smart az, just want to know what makes these "slick".

I am sort of a running shoes guy. I'm newish to running (last 2 years) but love tech of all kinds. The Vapors and Alphas raised the bar on innovation in the industry and are what pro marathoners use. Since their release you see other manufacturers releasing strong competition like the Metaspeed Sky. These have carbon plates for forward rock and are very lightweight, and consistently allow athletes to push faster speeds over both short and long distances. But they have less durability/shorter use. Check out the subreddit at http://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks . And r/running . Search within these groups for shoe names and you'll get a wealth of info from runners better than us. Smilie A lot of the FP shoe deals are for plain, average shoes and not really deals in spite of the price drops.

I'd call it an ok deal. This is $200 for Chinese running shoes correct?
What shoe do you recommend for long distance running that are made in US?
The Vaporfly Next have a carbon fiber plate for responsiveness. Not a marathoner (only ran one), but run 5 miles 3 times a week so like these shoes. Need all the help I can get.

So what mileage can we expect vs something like Pegasus?

Pegasus are everyday trainers , 250-300 miles.
Vaporfly shoes are race day shoes. Lucky to get 3 marathons with a pair.

That's not accurate unless you are a 250Lb + runner. Pegasus can get you up to 500 miles and you can easily take the vaporfly to 150 or so (as I've done being a 175 lb runner)

I see runners with Peg 38s talking about 300 to 400 miles. And the Vapors 2 with 200-250+ miles, but helped if constraining them to track use (or not harsh pebbly pavement or trails anyway, I assume, is their point).

edit: And I see others here chiming in with their experiences that seem in line with this. Good stuff.

I'm not even a runner, more of a walker. But have a lot of friends that run and they swear by the higher end shoes. Me? I'm a buy at Kohl's on sale $50 max. Until last holiday season. I found some Nike's normally $160 and with discounts and cashback at the time I got them for like $80. I was still pissed they were way more than what I normally pay.

Until I put them on. Holy cow, they are a thousand times better than any shoe I've ever had!! I mean you want to go out and walk/run with them! And so damn comfortable during the day. It's day and night and I will never, ever go back to cheaper shoes again.

For the runners, I can easily see why they buy shoes like this. No idea about the wear though. Mine are still going strong but not much use compared to a runner.

What do they have now that matches up to the Pegasus Turbo 2s? I use those as raceday shoes, have about 50 miles (a handful of half leadup training runs, a couple races) and they're a flipping treat to put on and run in when you're used to wearing regular Pegs or Vomeros. I'd love to have another similarly light and bouncy pair in reserve. (They're not carbon plated, never run with a plate shoe before, so I don't have that experience)
