I went to my Costco this morning to get a price adjustment since I'd bought the Delsey Paris set online last Monday for $179. Customer service said they couldn't adjust online purchase so I went in to buy the same set for $129 but saw the Ricardo set next to it. I ended up with the Ricardo set as it's hard sided polycarbonate, the interior has more pockets, and the small bag has the USB connector. Also I noticed the zippers in the Delsey set were a bit difficult to use. I suggest you go into the store and compare them.

Aldi has a dozen eggs (Grade A, large) between $0.88 and $1.08 every day. I'm giving a range because they update their prices daily.

It's not an entirely fair comparison though, as the Costco eggs ($3.79) are cage free.
And I buy pasture raised from Costco for $7.99 in west coast! If they're just organic, it becomes $6.99

I don't see anywhere that Costco has been out of line regarding price inflation. Items have definitely gotten more expensive, but part of the problem was Costco's relationships managed to keep a lot of items' prices stable for a long time and there's only so far that can go before those items have to go up. For items that are commodity, they rose quicker - milk, eggs, etc.

Still, with the exception of sales and loss leaders, Costco tends to be a bargain compared to any local markets here. Walmart might be cheaper, but the quality of their food items pales in comparison to Costco, and Sams is even worse.

BJ's isn't bad - but is definitely on average more expensive than Costco. BJ's is way more convenient for me, and I've found that on average I'll pay 10-15% more for items at BJs than at Costco, usually lending to the fact that BJ's sells smaller unit sizes.

As for Costco changing sizes of items being 'shady' - I think a lot of retailers do this and I don't think there's anything shady about it. They're giving lower income consumers the ability to buy some items without paying as much in smaller quantities. I have a big family so Costco is no issue for me, but for a lot of people, the minimum sizes of items tends to be an issue. They might get more people to buy this way (less to consume before it goes bad for some) while also making it possible for people with reduced means to buy.
I was not referring to shrinkflation. They started in 2019 to deteriorate the quality of some items while keeping the outside appearance almost identical.

Example tellicherry peppercorns. I just grabbed a pack back then because it looked identical. But it doesn't taste identical anymore. Their Kirkland branded boxers were Pima cotton before, now same pack but made of lower quality cotton.

I would have hoped that Costco would be more transparent than their competitors but that apparently was too big of an ask.

Buying tires at Costco is still a pretty decent deal compared to the other options I have.
Maybe depending on where you are. I'm ion the Houston are, they gave me a choice of exactly two tires. One was an ice tire. The other one was $62 cheaper each at discount tire.

Costco has really been upping their margins these last few years. It's cheaper to buy the same product from Walmart or my local grocery chain. The go to staples like milk, bread, eggs, cheese, and butter are 50% to 100% more expensive at Costco. Not long ago Costco was cheaper.
Walmart and Costco don't carry comparable quality products. Costco is a bit expensive and leads to overspending or wastage sometimes.

Unfortunately, Discount Tire is on the wrong side of the country from me.

That. They're insanely quick in raising prices. Pecans went from from $10 to $13 in the last quarter. Pecorino Romano from $7 to $10. Produce inventory has been slimmed. Gas prices are within 1-3 cents compared to QT.

Some of their hidden inflation is also Walmart-style shady, reminds me of the sneaky switch from tellicherry to regular black while preserving exactly the same packaging.

I'm finding myself shopping at Aldi for regular grocery staples …
What they pay for the products has also gone up - there's a lot of inflation everywhere.

Their 16 oz Kirkland vanilla extract has come down. It's now 13.99 in store. Cat litter was a pretty good deal this round (Feb).

Difference is in how the chickens are treated ... and the organic ... and the pasture-raised.

There's really no regulation on pasture-raised nor free-range. FYI

The thing I don't see people considering is that Costco is chartering their own barges last I heard to keep the shelves stocked. Lots of empty shelves at my local grocery stores.

BTW the 10lbs frozen wings are up to over $30 from $20

Check their ice cream. The two warehouses in my area stopped carrying the premium vanilla ice cream and started to offer a national brand with tons of fillers. They also had a pistachio ice cream that delivered its crunch through … almonds. Maybe I'm overly sensitive but to me it appears as if WM and Costco are getting closer.

I understand that but 30%? I was able to get the pecans at Sams for the old price for a while but they then price matched.
