Prices after hack:

Drill kit $31.52
4 tool combo $74.89
2 tool combo $44.96
Impact driver kit $44.96

Great find, OP. $75 for 4 tools and 5.5ah of battery is pretty impressive.
By the way, is there a way of seeing all current hackable deals in one place, or did you just stumble upon these by regular browsing?
the item you want has to be store pickup and the item you don't needs to be ship to home. from the orders page you can cancel the ship to home item
It was my first time doing it, but I've seen it in other posts.
This is how I did it:
First of; my store had both items (I'm not sure this has to do with anything).

Selected kit to be picked up in store, and free batteries to be delivered home,
Purchased from my phone and paid with CC (again not sure if this matters),
Went to computer after couple min and there was a option under batteries for cancellation
That's it

I understand that everybody have different experiences when it comes to cancellation. You might as well don't get an option to cancel the order partially while others do.

I got refunded for cancelled item on same day

Just regular browsing.. Basically they're giving away free tools if you purchase batteries and charger. And that is with discounted battery prices
I'm sorry if I'm being daft, but perhaps the listing at Home Depot has changed?…

for example, this deal, which is being called the "drill & 2 batteries" variant

"https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-ONE-18V-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-1-2-in-Drill-Driver-Kit-with-2-1-5-Ah... [homedepot.com]

is listed as one of the hackable options, with a "list price of $79. (Comes w/ 1 tool, that being the Drill, a bag, 2 batteries for $79, PLUS a free gift. Now, I understand that the item one wishes to cancel should be shipped, & the desired hardware items should be picked up In store, or so says many posts from those in the know…

However, using this (lowest priced eligible combo) $79 "deal" as an example, the only options for the free gift are 1 (larger capacity) battery or 2 lesser-sized batteries, each of which prominently display "a $119 value" in large font…. Assuming one wanted the complete set included in the $79 bundle, they would select "pick up in store" for that, & then have the "$119" bonus/gift battery shipped.

if I have described it correctly thus far, one then waits a reasonable amount of time after placing order(s), and then cancels the "free battery gift" portion of the order, which is the ship to store portion, thus leaving the in-store bundle… at $79. Therein lies my confusion. Obviously canceling the free gift won't result in a $119 credit/refund, else the in-store pickup items would cost (-$79) and the gift order cancellation would cost (+$119), meaning one would PROFIT~$40 for the pleasure of also receiving the 1 drill, 2 battery, 1 charger & 1bag for free.

im either missing the underlying prorated refund calculation that HD employs when the "gift"is cancelled, or else something(s) else entirely.

I would be incredibly indebted & appreciative if the most basic step by step is summarized as to how to benefit from the "hack". (I happened to have purchased the $79 combo in store just yesterday, which was the same as the $79 listing in this thread, EXCLUDING the case, 2nd battery, AND the free gift offer, so I'll obviously be conducting returns at HD in the immediate future regardless, meaning I might as well try for the "hack", & worst case it all gets returned.

(for some further info/clarity, I got the "P215K" version, which was 18V 1/2 in 2-SPEED DRILL "kit", which aside from the tool (drill) had just ONE 1.5Ah battery & the charger in the box, for $79, Barcode SKU 0 33287 18619 8) So CLEARLY that is going back tomorrow, (& IIRC it was a SlickDeals post that led me there lol) but I would VERY much like to "return the favor" even somewhat by benefiting from the far better deals described in this thread.

any help\guidance is greatly appreciated. Ideally I'd get the drill, the "multi-tool" (or another tool/light/etc, anything besides circular saw, which I have covered already) & the 2 batteries, charger, & case for the ~$55 price point that has been reported as successfully acquired here numerous times, but even the drill/batteries/case/charger for ~$35-$50 would be a major savings compared to the "super sucka special" I bought yesterday, and I would be thrilled w/ that as well.

any guidance is truly appreciated

Ok, so I have everything exactly as it should be/as described in the thread, & HD even only charged my card the cost of the pickup at store amount ($45) as opposed to the full $107 (which is the $99 hackable offering after tax).

I got a redirect/warning about cancellation when I chose "cancel" on the order/invoice for the (home delivery) batteries(~$55 of the entire $107) which seemed to suggest the entire order could be canceled… but also that for all types of order (pick up, ship, ship to store) the ability to cancel is only an option for less than 1 hr after placing the order, & is not an option 45 min after order confirmation… as an aside I received the "email confirm" nearly simultaneously, so cancelling before then wouldn't have been feasible, but I am going to go ahead & give it a try right now, while the amount charged to my card is still at the reduced amount/the overall eventual desired price point after battery cancellation… wish me luck (& LMK where I went wrong if it's apparent in my summary review of my attempt here…

You can get the circular saw with a drill, 2 batteries, and a charger for only $44 - so $13 extra to get the circular saw with the drill kit.
How do you do that would you please help explain.?

Yep this worked. Item you really want is in store pick up. Item you want to cancel is shipping. Go to orders and cancel shipping order after a min or 2.
how long after placing the order you can cancel the battery order which is being delivered to home?

HD prorates the "bundle" when you add both items to your cart. The $79 drill kit drops to $31.50 and the $119 "free" battery prices out at $47.50. The "total" is still the original $79.00 but the two items are separated on the receipt. That allows you to return or cancel one of the items but keep the other item at the discounted price. You would expect the price to revert back to the original full prices if any part of the bundle is returned but it doesn't, hence everyone calling it a "hack".

It makes more sense when you add them to your cart then you can see how the discounts work.

Repeat - Can I return only the battery to the store for a refund? Or, should I reorder, then cancel the battery soon after, and return the entire first order.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Can I return the battery at the store? Or must all items be returned?

The receipt shows two different item charges:

Battery 64.11

RYOBI ONE+ 18V Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Tool Combo Kit with (2) Batteries, 18V Charger, and Bag $74.89

Worked as of 5 minutes ago. Easiest if you send one item to store and one item to ship. Then you just cancel an entire portion of the order (in my case the battery shipment) and viola, driver and circ saw for only $45! I did this all via PC browser, canceled the battery immediately after placing the order. This is even cheaper than Harbor Freight stuff for same build quality, wish I hadn't bought HF.

Ordered the 4 tool combo with batteries and then canceled the batteries.. picked up the tool today.

Subtotal$139.00
Discount-$64.11
Shipping$0
Sales Tax$5.84
Order Total$80.73

Now the question is this combo is good, or the Ryobi ONE+ HP Brushless.. for drill and impact driver for $129 is a better value... I only need the drill and impact driver. Appreciate any input

If this will be your one and only drill/impact set and extra money is not an issue, I'd say go for the brushless. It's compact, delivers more power and has better balance on hand. Unless you're using it whole day, having brushed or brushless drill in terms of battery usage is not as important in my opinion. It's more important with the other tools like router, sander etc
