Midway USA has 3.5" Schrade Viper Out The Front Assisted Opening 4034 Stainless Steel Pocket Knife w/ Aluminum Handle (Modified Spear) on sale for $21.99. Shipping is free on orders $49+, otherwise is $7.70.

Note, select Modified Spear from Drop Down Menu to receive sale price

About this Knife:
  • The Out The Front knife is not an automatic, but rather an assisted opening knife being deployed using a thumb slider which manually starts the blade movement until the spring assisted mechanism takes over. Manual retraction of the blade is made easy by a blade release button and slider.
  • The blades are made of 4034 Stainless Steel, providing longevity. The sturdy Aluminum handle with black finish is built to last.
  • A glass breaker and tip down pocket clip can also be found on the handle and help to maximize the tool's functionality. A sliding safety protects against any possibility of accidental deployment.

Oh, the irony... except not accept, Your not you're, forward not foreword, It's and not Its and definitely not definately.

You're typing quickly on your phone or perhaps I'm wrong.
Your ugly. Looks are subjective.
They certainly are not suddenly popping up. Schrade and S&W have been offering these "faux" OTF auto knives for years now. They are successful designs for several reasons:

1. The name brand. People recognize S&W , and to a lesser degree, Schrade. Keep in mind that these companies do not actually make these knives. The brand names have been sold out and sub contracted, and the knives are produced overseas cheaply for the big box store market in the USA.

2. They attempt to skirt OTF legality in some areas. You will notice, that these type of knives are advertised as "assisted" OTFs rather than automatics. This is to avoid localities that prohibit automatic knives. This sets up the onus on the consumer to be wary, as the actual function of the knives to a layman is identical to that of a single action automatic. This assisted gray area also makes the designs kind of wonky as a result, which is why the switch and release for this knife appear to be in awkward areas to access.

3. The price. Quality OTF autos, even inexpensive ones, start at the $100+ price point and only go up.What you are getting for the $21.99 price in the OP is a decent entry price.

If you're a knife person these are legal in your area, and don't have an OTF yet, I'd highly recommend snagging one of these. OTFs are super fun to fiddle with.

Looks like another crappy OTF. What is the deal with these OTFs suddenly popping up now from S&W to Schrade. I got the S&W and am regretting it. This looks even worse as the release is at the bottom of the handle. Being impracticable aside, this knife is pretty damn ugly.

Not sure why this is marked as expired. The deal is still live. Choose finish=black, shape=modified spear and serrated=no and it's still 21.99.

I just checked also, and it does still look live to me also. Can a Slickdeals person revive this from the dead? lol.

Here come the knife "experts" to tell you that this $22 knife isn't worth it. Definitely worth the $22. You just have to have common sense and be a realist about what you are getting for $22.

I don't have a single OTF knife, but the last time this was posted I read multiple times that this knife is awkward and that it's only single action, meaning to "close" the knife you manually have to slide it back in instead of a flick of a switch.

Everyone recommended the Lighting brand. Cheap and Chinese but if you know know what you're getting it's a great knife. Around $40 and it's double action. BladeHQ gave it really good reviews all things considered

I have this and it's just ok. The button to deploy the knife is awkward in its retracted state. It deploys from the bottom and travels to the top with the blade. Once deployed you have to unlock the blade and manually retract the button to the base of the knife to reset it. Two hands are needed which kinda defeats the purpose of an OTF knife. I also have the S&W one. Between the two this one is a little better. If double action OTF knives are legal in your area I'd suggest getting one of them instead.

Did you mean "you're"? Your = possessive. You're = you are. Great life skill. I've deleted many resume applicants due this common misuse.

I find these days that most people are just typing quickly on their phones and make mistakes for that reason, accept in some rare instances.

But perhaps I'm wrong and you're advice will have an effect moving foreword. Its definately possible.
