About this Knife:
- The Out The Front knife is not an automatic, but rather an assisted opening knife being deployed using a thumb slider which manually starts the blade movement until the spring assisted mechanism takes over. Manual retraction of the blade is made easy by a blade release button and slider.
- The blades are made of 4034 Stainless Steel, providing longevity. The sturdy Aluminum handle with black finish is built to last.
- A glass breaker and tip down pocket clip can also be found on the handle and help to maximize the tool's functionality. A sliding safety protects against any possibility of accidental deployment.

You're typing quickly on your phone or perhaps I'm wrong.
1. The name brand. People recognize S&W , and to a lesser degree, Schrade. Keep in mind that these companies do not actually make these knives. The brand names have been sold out and sub contracted, and the knives are produced overseas cheaply for the big box store market in the USA.
2. They attempt to skirt OTF legality in some areas. You will notice, that these type of knives are advertised as "assisted" OTFs rather than automatics. This is to avoid localities that prohibit automatic knives. This sets up the onus on the consumer to be wary, as the actual function of the knives to a layman is identical to that of a single action automatic. This assisted gray area also makes the designs kind of wonky as a result, which is why the switch and release for this knife appear to be in awkward areas to access.
3. The price. Quality OTF autos, even inexpensive ones, start at the $100+ price point and only go up.What you are getting for the $21.99 price in the OP is a decent entry price.

You also missed one... Affect instead of Effect. (I think? That one really does confuse me sometimes).
Happy Friday.

a very nice tool. When your hands are full and you are on a ladder having a knife that opens easily one handed is great.
The bad part about the one listed here is the manual retraction. that is hard to do with one hand. I have a few junky chinese OTF knives that work both ways, but after a few months of pocket lint they start messing up.
