I couldn't agree more. I have two Apple TVs in my house, both the newer version with said better remote. Both remotes are in a cabinet. I always use my phone to control the TV and I'm OK with it.

I also had the previous gen of the Apple TV with the remote that was less usable. Again, I used the iPhone control center widget to control those as well and I never thought, this is a terrible experience.

I love my Apple TV, (previous Alexa Cube and Roku owner) but this remote is crap. I often fumble with the remote in the dark and it's so sensitive and all over the place.

The newer click-remote is much better.

In addition to being a very good media player, it also can be used as a HomeKit hub. This is a big one. No need for an extra hub, and is very stable.

I have two of these and fire tv 4Ks and google chromecast 4K. I use Apple TV in my main viewing area and home theater. Google tv and fire tv are in gym and garage TVs.Yes, Remote could have been better. They already have the better version of the remote. But for me, I use Logitech harmony. I barely use any dedicated remote for the devices.

It's actually human conditioning that's making people drive prices up to reach a new normal for the fed to raise interest rates.

I had a roku and a chromecast and decided they were lacking in dolby atmos support for a lot of streaming apps. So I bought apple tv and it was well worth the money. If you have a home theatre system, apple tv is the best stream device for it. I only ever use the apple tv for all streaming now. I bought it 2019 for 100 dollars. If I had to buy this exact same model today, I'd look to get it second hand for 70 dollars or so

Clearly you don't understand how tech works. They're constantly improving and releasing new models every so often. Obviously an Apple TV in 2017 depreciates in value in 2022. Tech is not an investment.

I have a couple of questions for you though

Is slick deals, for you, the lowest price right now versus what it has been dozens of times recently ?...like about every couple of months since 2019 for this specific item
For the record I have bought two of these from threads on Slick deals...$99 in 2019 and $89 in 2021. There have been several other times at the $99 that I did not take advantage of

Is an Apple Tv an urgent purchase for you?

I have both Roku and Apple TV...what apps does Apple Tv have Atmos support for that Roku does not?

Or a old AppleTV, mac, or 3rd party remote with real buttons. The touchpad on this remote is horrible, you can't pick up the remote (or let a passing breeze hit it) without disturbing playback. Personally I use Harmony which supports Bluetooth control of AppleTV and it works so much better!
