EXTENDED AND ACTIVE!
They previously stated good until 3/31/2020, while supplies last.
TracFone is offering the iPhone SE 2020 for $290 if you purchase one $25 service plan (unlimited talk/text, 2 GB high speed data for 30 days)
and they are throwing in an additional 6 months of the $25 monthly plan for free (unlimited talk/text, 2 GB high speed data for 30 days - not the old style tracfone plans with limited talk "minutes", or limited texting).
The $25 plan cost just $20 if you select auto-refill.
The $290 phone is discounted to $246.50 if you enter code ERTG10 at checkout.
Making the phone, plus one month plan, plus an additional six free months of service, for a total cost of just $266.50!
That means this brand new iPhone SE 2020 with Seven months of service is just $266.50!
But it gets better as you can sign up for their rewards program and enter a referral code within 14 days of activation to earn at least $50 which can be used to purchase another two months of service. Use a referral code from a friend or find one at Reddit.
That means this brand new
iPhone SE 2020 with Nine months of service is just $266.50!

but i doubt that the new phone will be discounted right away and tradtionally apple replaces devices at the same price of the previous one ($399 in the case of the SE 20202).
if the new phone sells for $300 (unlikely) then this deal amounts to a choice of either getting a previous generation phone with 7 months of service (9 months when you add in the rewards point credit, and at least one more month since this deal is acutally less than $300) compared to buying the new model with no service... so you are comparing $300 vs at least $500 for old vs new plus 10 months of service. given that the service amounts to half the cost of the phone it is a big premium to go with the new model. if you were talking about a $1000 phone then the equation is different.

mint does not have it in stock.
mint is fine if you get coverage in your area... but since mint runs on tmobile it is not a option for everyone or a good choice for people that frequently travel.
This seems like a decent deal for a new phone but not great. The phone should be unlocked within 60 days so that is good. Getting referral points worth $50 also helps the deal.
The new SE is coming soon though... so if you don't need something now then I would wait.

Now that Verizon has taken over, the main thing I've noticed is the much better unlock policy. Other than that things seem to be as good/crappy as they were before.

As for the phone, it is locked to tracfone, so the same as a brick or $10 phone, to be used only on wifi.

however, total wireless is selling a refurbished iphone se 2020 for just $129 if you purchase it along with a plan, but you can then activate it on your exisitng line using the included new sim and the plan is added to the reserve of your account.
and total is selling the iphone 11 for $299 without a service plan required and you can activate it on your existing total wireless account. it is a bigger phone than the SE and though it is supposed to be based on the same processor as the SE (or vice versa) the 11 is much faster for some reason. also the 11 has much better battery life than the se 2020. i have had both and though i did not like the large size of the 11 at first, the greater battery life has made me very happy with it.
also think there is also a total wireless 15% off the price of the phone coupon floating around making that 11 cost only $255.
