You're supposed to change the carbon filters every 3 months and the HEPA filters once a year. That's why you get 4 carbon to 1 HEPA

I still have a bunch from when I ordered a bunch of cleaners a few years ago. Thanks for the reminder to change the filters

Winix has a 545 refurb in stock on their website. I think I'll grab another - very happy with the 6 we have - half of which were refurbs

That's not a HEPA filter as on the Winix though is it? Seems like a HEPA filter on a furnace would seriously impede airflow. I think HEPA filters are more dense than furnace filters but I'm not on expert on the subject.

Good price for genuine replacement filters. Anyone have thoughts on aftermarket filter performance? Aftermarket filters are still cheaper.

All 3 of my 545 units have an annoying low buffeting noise after a 4-5 weeks. Like driving in the car with one window open. It's only silent maybe 2-4 weeks after a HEPA filter change. Makes me wonder if they designed that in to encourage more frequent changes

I got that last time for my 5500-2 and it fits perfectly. That one comes with the washable carbon filter which the 5500-2 has rather than the disposable carbon filters. The HEPA filter has an anti-microbial coating (orange color) which is an additional plus in my book!

Speaking of the 5500-2, I got that as well as the C545 last year. I only hooked up the 5500-2 and have been very impressed by it. Also like the washable filter aspect. I haven't even opened the C545 yet (I ordered 2 as well as a bunch of replacement filters).

The 5500-2 also has the auto mode where it detects air that needs to be filtered and starts up, otherwise it turns itself off (you can always have it running all the time on manual mode). Not sure if the C545 has this, but it's pretty cool. Also has different colors to represent the current air quality.

My refurb refuses to connect to WiFi - even when I turn off my 5 GHz band and just leave the 2.4 GHz band. I just gave up since my filters run on auto 24/7 anyway. The original one that I bought that wasn't a refurb works fine.
