Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it
Some people don't live in a house.
Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

I like to experiment with technology. I figure it also helps the community, and I don't mind contributing back since the SD community has helped me over the years as well.

At the end of the day, I may settle on the M2100 for the balance between the weight/portability and speed.
A Tinkerer, I dig! I do too, as long as my toys aren't too expensive! One thing I noticed about the M2100 was no band 71. When I had Tmobile and traveled, band 71 made a huge difference, especially in smaller cities. It's absolutely necessary where I'm staying now since without it, many calls just won't come in. Kind of a bummer.

Thanks for the context. Have you found a suitable hotspot that includes Band 71?

I'm not going to try the M2000 route with custom firmware, it's just too much trouble based on past experiences I've had with custom boot roms and firmware.

Can you experiment with Netgear Nighthawk M5/M6 Pro MR6500/6400 etc.?
I'm sorry. I'm primarily on the Verizon network, and getting the Nighthawks unlocked takes $ or work. Plus, these Nighthawk devices are very pricey.

I just tested this out. While the Orbic started to power on without a battery installed, it never got past the welcome screen. With the battery installed, I could pull out the battery after the hotspot is fully booted, and it will function for about 30-60 seconds, and I can change menu settings and such, but the hotspot will show me a "powering off" screen and shut down eventually.

There may be an advanced setting to allow it to stay on without a battery installed, or there may be someone who eventually figures out how to do this with a custom firmware setting.
thats a shame. m2100 cant turn on without battery either. and that makes me liking netgear hotspot even more. it has ethernet port that lets you run data via usb and ethernet ports and you can power on without battery. basically using it as a home based hotspot modem. nevertheless it does comes handy as a portable hotspot and it seems to perform better than m2100. my m2100 died with death of verizon logo screen after owning it for just over a week.

It looks like the Orbic 5G you have supports band 71 :

5G UW N257/260/261
5G N2/5/25/41/48/66/71/77

https://orbic.us/products/orbic-speed-5g

Were you able to see if data counted towards hotspot or on device data?

Edit : Another interesting option is the Inseego FG2000, they now go for sub $200 it seems and have n41/n71.

Is there anyone here who wouldn't mind PMing me/DMing me about adding my tablet to their business plan? I do not have a business account and I just need to add this tablet for my school work because the wifi is garbage. I can pay via venmo or cashapp the $10 or $11-12 or whatever a month since its $10 a month with Taxes and fees included.... I would truly appreciate it and I don't need access to the tmobile account or anything and can give my imei and whatver else u need for the tablet to add it. Any help would be much appreciated!!
This comment is nuts. Asking for a coupon, I get it, but this?

HD pass expiration date......I got HDVPASS0 added to my line but first bill just came and it is saying expiration date is in November. Is this right? Only 3 months of HD is for free?
Quote from JetSkiJeff :
It expires at the end of every month on all the invoices. Then it repeats with next months new expiration date again.
As far as the HDVPASS0 feature code is concerned:

It has an expiration of 99 months after activation, that's over 8 years!
At least, that's what I was told by the T-Mo Business rep.

IF your Fast.com speed is over 5mbps, probably around 5-7mbps, then you have it, 1080p.
If it's 2.5mbps then you don't, and you have the 480p version.

This HD feature code is still in the T-Mo system.
I called today the T-Mo Business rep, (Not support), and it was added to my account, and the speed above went from 2.5 to 6.5mbps.
I was told that it was added to my account when I placed the order a few months ago but it was never added, until today.

After it was added, I received a text stating:
Thank you for purchasing a T-Mobile HD Video, available for use as of 9/26/2022 06.00 Pacific Time. You may need to reboot your device to activate your pass.

I was told that there will not be any additional monthly charges.

Also see this on speeds, video, etc.:

ANOTHER PLUS of this plan is that it has FREE 5GB of high speed data overseas, at least in the EU.
When I turned the tablet on over there, a message came up saying that one of the benefits of this plan is the free 5GB of high speed data.

After 4GB was used, I received a text stating that:
Looks like you've used 4GB of your free 5GB of high speed data. Once it's used up, we'll keep you going with unlimited data On Us at up to 256Kbps speeds. Want more high speed data? Get an International Pass.

After the free 5GB was used up a similar text message was received:
Heads up! You've used your free 5GB of high speed data. We'll keep you going with unlimited data On Us at up to 256Kbps speeds until you have anew allocation of high speed data available on 9/19/2022. Want high speed data now? Get an International Pass.

So I had the low speed for about a day and the next day the new high speed 5GB allocation kicked in.
From the above texts it looks that this free 5GB feature may be available elsewhere worldwide besides the EU, see below.

See these:

I haven't even signed up for this plan yet. I have 2 AT&T Mobley plans with both SIM cards in a Velocity hotspot. Like a lot of users, the quality has become near unusable for streaming. Which is my main use when traveling. I purchased 2 because I thought I could split the data used and not get on any sort of high data use radar. Turns out that doesn't seem to be an issue.

I'm just looking for the best way to use a hotspot device for this to stream Directv Stream when I travel. I figure if I can get something plug and play, I'll use that as a backup to AT&T and probably drop one of my Mobley plans. I've been paying $46 or so a month for years now for mostly light use.

When I need it though, and it works well, it's awesome. Just few and far between now. Not sure what changed with AT&T and the Mobley plan.

It's become very much a YMMV situation for those of us with Mobley plans

At times it's fine and still great -- and then at times, for seemingly no reason, it becomes nearly unusable.

I'm now using my Mobley plan alongside this T-Mo plan to have some optionality
