Reds and Browns are "Linear" (no bump or click basically) and register a key some time during key press.
Blues are "clicky", and have a mechanical click that occurs during travel.
A LOT of noise comes from key bottom-out, and is just the clack clack of double-injected hard plastic hitting a metal backplate.
On reds and Browns you can type quiet if you type softly, tactile or "clicky" switches will make noise regardless. They DO make "silent" tactile these days.
Basically other keyboards just have a membrane that feels mushy - though I have chicklet style laptop keyboards I like just fine. They bottom out on soft plastic, so there is little percussion.
Short answer is yes. Almost any mechanical keyboard will make significant noise comparitively unless you take some time to make them quiet (mostly rubberized o-rings to soften the bottom out.)
I am no expert, and doubtless others will correct an error, however - basically modern gaming membrane keyboards (Razer, etc) handle multiple key presses at once (real problem in gaming - eg; walk back, jump, change weapon, run - one action could be dropped)
Nowadays it's more of a preference than ever, and messing with this stuff can be fun. I couldn't BUY Cherry Reds for as cheap as this keyboard.. so good deal. It would take 30 minutes or so to put silencers on, and it'd be pretty quiet probably.
Would only say that like the Rk61 Kludge and others now offer good Cherry clones, you can hot swap switches if you get interested (just pull and plug), are RGB/backlit, and can be hard wired AND 2.4 GHZ wireless, AND BT5.0.
Literally let's me mess around/upgrade - and I can unplug from my gaming PC, type on my home media PC, BT to the Google set top - all from one 40$ keyboard.
This is a GREAT deal. However I ended up with 4 keyboards going from my first Corsair Blue MX, and multiple versions.
If this fits your aesthetic, and you're in to typing/gaming a lot - go get it. This is a good deal.
If you want to get in to this hobby and explore, get a good feature-rich cheapo that supports "Hot-Swap" on Amazon (linear switches) and get a sampler platter of switches and try them out!
You can make them quiet. Linear are quiet for gaming unless chat/typing a lot. Most games you're usually pressing, not striking keys.
Hopefully that helped someone - and if I got anything wrong SD enforcers hit it!
Reds are linear, quiet, and have a light feel. Good for gamers wanting fast action with minimal resistance. Not ideal for typing since the keys lack tactile feedback.
Blacks are linear, quiet, and have a heavy feel. Good for gamers wanting fast action with more resistance than Cherry Reds.
Browns are tactile, quiet, and have a medium feel. Good for a blend of typing and gaming. Considered to be the best "middle-ground" switch.
Blues are clicky, loud, and have a heavy feel. Good primarily for typing.

Hard core gamers have everything wired. Less chances of errors while gaming. All of my stuff, headphones, mouse and keyboard are wired and I have extras sitting in a drawer nearby in case they fail mid game.
When you put over 8K hours into games yearly then you will start to understand.

However, the Corsair combo deal is still alive: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CORSAIR-...632-2357-0

The KB lights can be fully turned off just as other posters have mentioned.
For a $60 savings and all the positive reviews I read, I was expecting a great deal on a great keyboard. After opening the box, however, I was a bit underwhelmed. In my very humble opinion, $40 should be the regular price point. I've had crappy keyboards in my life and this is definitely not one of them, but it's not a $100 keyboard, either. I spent $100 on a sale a couple of years ago when I picked up a Corsair K70 LUX keyboard and that transaction felt like I stole the thing! It's an amazing piece of well-made hardware.
Just wanted to offer my two cents.
