Is this really the XR line? doesn't seem like it.

DeWalt is not calling this XR in the branding anymore, but they are brushless. I had an issue with an SDS that I picked up that was labeled XR on the box and site, but not on the tool. They explained that it was brushless so its XR, but I mentioned that the tool doesn't say it anywhere on it and doesn't seem to be built as well. I got a free 5.0aH battery since I called them out on it.

The DCF801 is Xtreme, not XR.

Edit: And it's a driver, not a drill

Yep Acmetools seems like one of the few places labeling it XR, everywhere else I can find including Lowes and Amazon do not mention XR anywhere.

It is not correct for them to say that since it's brushless, it's XR.

I believe the 12V XTREME line was created to be sold at Lowes (and NOT Home Depot - DeWALT has a few tools that are clearly one or the other but not both), so is different (better, probably) than the Home Depot DeWALT 12V tools.

I've never seen a 12V called XR. I can believe that DeWALT might treat the XTREME branding as the 12V equivalent of XR.

BTW, I have this tool and it is great. It is usually my first one to try, and can usually get the job done. The smart features like the precision mode vs. Low vs. High, and the smooth trigger are tough to quantify but very valuable to me. I use it as a precision screwdriver all the time with great results.
