I like Stubbs Original since it has a lot less sugar than other grocery store brands. This is their sweet version that has double the sugar.

As long as you don't mind a nice big dose of high fructose corn syrup, Cattlemen's Classic is like $10/gallon S&S. Was down to $7.78 in a previous deal, with coupon

I don't put a lot of stock in ATK reviews, any of them. Stubbs Original is a high quality sauce that shouldn't be compared with sweet sauces. Just like Gates (my personal favorite) and Arthur Bryant's, it's savory not sweet. Make a batch of the recipe graciously provided by Ollie Gates. It tastes very close to real Gates BBQ sauce and is crave worthy (which it should be since it's Gate's recipe not a copycat). It's very versatile as BBQ sauce and as a condiment. Seriously, just give it a try. No cooking necessary either. https://www.marthastewart.com/340...ecue-sauce

Stubbs Sticky & Sweet gets good consumer reviews. I've never had it so I don't want to risk buying by the gallon. I did that with "Head Country" (Oklahoma sauce) and it didn't work out. It's OK, but I'm not a fan overall. Stubbs also ticks the boxes for those that avoid HFCS.

How long do people typically keep open BBQ sauce before throwing it out? This is our go-to sauce and we usually go through a bottle every 2-3 months. This is tempting, just not sure how long it would safely last. I see sites saying sauce is good for like 6-9 months in the fridge, and I know my mom used to keep sauce in the fridge pretty much forever.

For anyone that hasn't tried it, you should probably get a smaller bottle first. If you like sweet sauces though, this one has been my favorite for several years now.

Ollie Gates is as good a man, as his sauce is too. The Stubbs sticky sweet isn't even really that "sweet" compared to other sauces with sweet in the title. I love both of the Stubbs variety though.

Anything is better than Sweet Baby Ray's (putting on my flame suit). Lol.

My current favorite is Lambert's Sweet Sauce 'o Mine - Sweet & Spicy Vinegar.

18 oz bottles of Stubbs go on sale for $1.50/each during BBQ season every year.

That's $10.66 a gallon, and you don't need a ridiculous gallon container (and you can mix/match flavors).

This is not a particularly hot deal.

Exactly. Most people I know IRL buy Sweet Baby Rays and love that. Sweet Baby Ray varieties make up 75% of my grocery store's BBQ sauce shelf. Its disgusting. But people like that so long as its overly sweet and not very spiced. If that's what you need for a high rating, I'm going to ignore the ratings.

And for those people, I suggest Stubbs "Sticky Sweet" flavor. That way they get the sweet, but made with better ingredients. Better flavor.

Personally, I think I prefer Sweet Heat or Hickory Bourbon, but I like a lot Stubbs.

I knew Stubb. Decent sauce to cover marginal beef. He used to have a cart in Antone's club, where I met my Mrs. I have a couple of bottles of his regular in my pantry. Honestly, it's just not that good. His BBQ was great for a bunch of half drunk blues lovers listening to SRV after midnight when all the good BBQ joints were closed, and you needed to get your blood alcohol level down before heading on the road. He was a great dude and deserves kudos for being there, and his later work supporting BBQ and the Austin music scene.. Wish his BBQ, and sauces were better. Miss him, and old Austin.
