Is this akin to spending 30k on a watch or 150k on a car
Much worse. At least a fine watch or car should last a good while. And with perfume, unless you're a bloodhound, the cheaper competition is so similar one can barely notice the difference.

Good price compared to retail, but check the other discount big-box stores' websites (TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, Saks off 5th) as they've had this for less ($199/$250) recently. They're all pretty iffy in terms of knowing how to ship properly though, so YMMV

Costco has some great Fragrance prices in general, so check to see what else they have.

For people who don't buy a lot of fragrances, $299 seems CRAZY, but this can be on the lower end when it comes to these niche brands. Some people like Axe bodyspray, some people like the $10 colognes at the impulse lanes at walmart, some people like $100 designer brands, and some like the $300-500+ bottles. I've bought a few of each and have no regrets whatsoever.

With Aventus though.. it's kind of been overdone. It smells good, but everyone's got their $25 ARMAF knockoff of it that smells pretty damn close and lasts even longer in some cases. Aventus (and other Creeds) have apparently gotten weaker over the years, and more of those clones have popped up, that I'd just recommend those.. in some cases you'll get even better longevity out of it. I always try to stick to the namebrand, especially with fragrances, but this ones a major exception (better yet, check out another one like Armaf Sillage (Silver Mountain Water) for a more unique scent than aventus)
I agree with you, as the armaf is the closest to Aventus. This is a must have if you're a true perfumest. Love to see who sells this bottle cheaper as it is lower than wholesale @ 300

And some people spend $0. Can't forget them.

More like to make up for something missing.

Personally, I'm curious about custom-made scents. The things I like to smell aren't normally in modern perfumes.

Everything has been done. It's just a matter of ignorance on your part. The fragrances that you smell are just popular scents that every joe schmoe clone likes to wear only because he thinks he can pick up chicks wearing it and it's cheap. There's fragrances that keep the average Joe out of the equation by being too expensive for him to afford. That grants you the ability to smell unique and not like every guy who walks into a bar wearing Acqua Di Gio.

There are thousands of fragrances that exist that have very specific themes. One fragrance might showcase the essence of vetiver or lavender, or a metallic futuristic smell, etc. You can search a database of thousands of fragrances on fragrantica's website. You could spend days reading review and finding fragrances based on the notes you want to smell or don't want to smell (if you like the smell of tonka bean but don't like the smell of amber you can specify that in your searches).

Just recently bought a bottle of Sillage and it's been awesome. So awesome that I bought a backup when it went on sale a month later. I may like it more than Armaf Club De Nuit that I've had for over 2 years.

I agree, I own both and there is no comparison. Out of all my colognes Aventus Creed gets the most compliments. This is the King of colognes.

this is not a bad price, but if you belong to any of the good fragrance groups on FB (and reddit, but i think people charge more there), you can get authentic Creeds for a chunk less than this
Where?

Serious question. Does this help you pull more chicks than a few extra spritzes of Axe body spray and if yes do I have to let my chest hair grow and wear gold chains or a track suit if I'm gonna use this??

I was thinking scents from other planets, though. Also, I'm not small-minded enough to really care what other people think. The fragrance would be for me and me alone. I wear nothing because I don't need to hide the way I smell naturally.

Used to buy these things until it became hip to make workplaces scent free zone. Are we over that now? Smilie. Creed Vetiver is the best and I know there are cheaper clones Smilie

Not a fan of the smell, has a Grandpa smell. Maybe the ladies like it if you smell like an old man, I dunno. If I'm throwing away hundreds of dollars to smell good I would rather wear Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
