Dang it! I just bought this over 2 weeks ago for $1049. Looks like I'm headed to Costco to get a price adjustment. Awesome TV by the way.

Debating this for a tv for my office. A majority of the time it will just be news with no sound, sometimes I may use it as an extra monitor…. you think it's overkill?

Not at all. If you compare this LG OLED vs any other TV at Costco, the image quality is insane. If you can afford it, definitely go for it.

One of the big benefits of LG OLED is the viewing angles. It still looks good from a wide angle. So depending on where you are sitting and where it is mounted, might make it worth it. Or if you have varied seating spots - sometimes sit at a desk, sometimes in a chair, sometimes at a table, sometimes in the hot tub in the corner of your office, etc.

The monitor question is a separate one, and there's info on that online.

The LG A1 is more or less the C1 without the gaming features and a couple other things, so you could save a couple hundred if that works:

There's not much better out there for use as a monitor. I am personally disappointed with my c1 48 inch as LG does not stand behind their warranty. Hopefully the warranty provided by Costco is better than what LG provides. I am currently looking at options to obtain a refund for my defective c1 that LG has left me with. I will never buy LG again.

I'd forego an OLED for news if you leave it on all the time. The tickers will absolutely cause premature burn in. Don't get me wrong I have CX for my office monitor and a 77c1 for my media room. But I would avoid content with constant tickers / logos

Oh wow thanks for letting me know about the price adjustment.
It looks like you can do it online as well:

That link is only if you bought it online. If you bought it at a warehouse, must go in. It was painless and quick for me though.

Just got the 65" for $1699 which is an all time as far I know, also the lowest price on Amazon according to CCC.

The reason for the sales is because the C2 was just released. According to early impressions, the main difference between the C1 and C2 is the newer Evo panel on the C2 gets slightly brighter in HDR. Definitely not worth the extra $800 IMO.

Not if your going to use it for the thing that will give this tv image burn the fastest (watching any 24/7 news telecast). save your money and get a cheaper model that you can warranty for under a $150. News not is not leading in image quality standards, buy a TCL for that.
