Fuse will blow before you smoke your wires Unless you only use the USB plugs
Most cigarette lighter has a build-in 10A fuse so I don't think any of those can work with lighter plugs
at 150W you are drawing 12.5A. At 500W it's 42A. Are there any cars that can deliver this?
Anything on pure sine wave deals?

Looking for a 2000 watt inverter, prefer pure sine wave. Currently running 200watts of solar, on a renogy brand 12v charge controller, to the approx 150ah battery bank (2x deep cycle wet). This is needed to run my tiny house on wheels. The tiny was built for off grid, propane stove, propane heater, propane/ac/dc fridge. So the only draw will be from fans all night during hot nights. But we recharge all our electronics at night too... Anyway has anyone ever used this model?

SL Euthtion 2000W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter 12V DC to 120V AC 60HZ with LCD Display, USB Port, Wireless Remote Control(10M), Solar, Outdoor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096KCW...UTF8&psc=1

this model above is $208.
or do I stick with renogy at $355 for the model with a remote lcd. Another option is to stick with renogy for $270 and not get the wireless remote...
Any advice?
Personally I'd check to see if you can just use DC directly. I'd think it would be inefficient to convert to AC and then back to DC vs just stepping up/down the voltage.

The biggest problem (now I know) is the cigarette lighter connection itself. The only way you're going to get more than 100 watts reliably out of an inverter is a dedicated wire to the car battery. My fuse blew with the engine running as I was stupid enough to connect a 220watt gaming laptop into a so called 300 watt inverter into a 10 amp max cigarette lighter.
My setup is a 12ga wire connected to a 15amp true cigarette lighter (rated for 20 amps). 20 amp fuse, wired to the fuse block.
Don't know what ga my CRV or pickup trucks wiring is, but my 300w inverter has never blown a fuse in those, but my laptop only draws 60w.

And you're right. I never would have tried to run that powerful of a laptop like this.
I don't recall the numbers but there is a chart out there that tells you how many amps / watts can be safely drawn on a particular gauge wire. Keep in mind the length of the wire becomes a consideration too.
Even if your car has a built in inverter for an ac outlet, I don't think it will run that laptop.

There are youtube vids showing how to hook up a dedicated 12v outlet and my next project I will be converting my 20v dc outlet to a 30v dc outlet. Gonna use 10ga wires for that and bigger fuses and a disconnect switch. (only plan on drawing maybe 100w for a newer laptop and charge a solar inverter)
If you do such a thing, install the fuse as close to the battery as possible. And check to see if the alternator can keep up with the amperage draw. Battery size and age will come into play at these watts too.

You are never getting more then 150 to 180 watts out of a car cigarette lighter. They are lying. Without even showing a pic of the 300w and clamps lol.

To get more you have to wire direct to battery with a lower gauge wire.
What you say is true, but depends on wiring sizes, fusing, and the 12v outlet. One can get a 30amp 12v outlet and roll out some good watts. One can also get 12v outlets rated at 20, 15, 10a. And, as you stated, have to have the correct wire sizes to support these outlets.
I have used 300w inverters for years but I'm also not drawing more than 100w at any time.
But, I want to get a solar inverter that I can recharge while driving, so I'm going to step up to a 30a 12v outlet (with proper ga wires!) so the 300w pure sine wave inverter will work as I need it to.
Hobotech on youtube explains this well enough.

Also, discovered while shopping for new inverters that one had to step up to the 500w inverters to get the 4.8v usb ports. All the 300w inverters I was looking at only had 4.2v usb ports, and that's good enough for my needs.

Just don't hook up a gaming laptop, popped a fuse as soon as the game started.
I'm not sure about your particular laptop but most I'm assuming yours can we put into a power saver mode instead of a power mode and the draw is considerably less.

However, that draw should be from the laptops battery, shouldn't it? The inverter would be just charging the battery.

If I have a pretty beefy laptop used for work that has close to gaming specs, which one should I get? Or none of these? I run up to Michigan several times a year in our car and need something to use for this and a travel router or hotspot. Will this work okay? Should I get something else?

Will this run a microwave
The smallest Microwave I have seen is 700 Watts. And even if it were 500, the startup current would be higher than that, so I'd recommend 1000W inverter.

But way more importantly, microwaves want Pure-Sinewave. If you don't give them that, they would make a buzzing sound, and not work as well.

Need to check your power brick. Unlikely higher than 100W brick. Most of those "gaming" laptops still use a high-efficiency version of the processor and graphics cards so still way under the specs of the desktop variants.

Any of these that are designed to plug into a cig outlet are basically for charging other device's batteries only. So laptop, drone, camera batteries, etc. The cig outlet cannot deliver enough amperage to power anything medium-sized directly. ie. Power tools, television, etc.

Once you get over a couple hundred watts, the manufacturer includes battery clamps. Obviously this means you cannot use it while driving, but it does increase current capacity quite a bit. Still, in-rush current usually prohibits most all large appliances. ie. Refrigerator, blow dryer, space heater, etc
I have no room for my refrigerator inside my car. Even if I put the backseat down (I have a small SUV) I doubt that I will be able to easily open the fridge doors all the way. So, I can't see why this would be good for a refrigerator. Same for washer and dryer.

Mine doesn't work as well anyway. That damn glass turntable comes off its tracks and makes a scratching sound when I put a large pot on it. It was a $38 Sunbeam I bought at Target. I don't get the sun wave thing. I majored in criminology in junior college so we didn't cover that.

I use my 300w inverter in my CRV and Chevy truck just as you mentioned. I can charge /run my laptop, charge my mifi and my phone and a rechargeable flashlight while driving.
My CRV battery is on the small side so I never leave the inverter on with the engine off for more than 30 minutes.
The pickup I can run for an hour or 2 without starting issues.

I used to use 150w inverter but the quality and ability to charge things varies so much from brand to brand.
I would get a pure sine wave inverter for the cost these days.

Can you buy one of these large enough to run a coffee pot or small microwave? If so, which ones are safe and reliable?
