Very detailed and well-written post.
Your mistake was buying Samsung. Panasonic is the king of inverter microwaves.
Can't speak of the Samsung but I've had a Panasonic Inverter for over 11 years now and it works like a charm. Very even heating at 50% and the food is never dry\overcooked as long as you learn to estimate the time needed. The only thing I ever need to stir to even the temp out is soup but it is mostly liquid so to be expected....

I strongly recommend the Breville with soft self closing door, no more door slamming in the morning or late night.

I much prefer microwaves that have a handle to open the door as opposed to the push button door opener that typically begins to stick after being used for a while.

Great question. Does anyone know the difference between these two microwaves other than a slightly different model number? The specs look identical to me.

Panasonic is one of the few companies that actually makes their own microwaves. Almost everything else is made in China by Midea (Toshiba, Breville, GE, Sharp, Amazon, Magic Chef, Black+Decker, Whirlpool/Maytag/KitchenAid, Sharp, Insignia, Hamilton Beach/Proctor Silex, Oster, etc.) or Galanz (bottom of the barrel cheapie brands).

Think Costco might sell about that size in their stores. I know they always have a Panasonic inverter microwave on the shelf and I know it also goes for significantly less than this.

That said: I ended up getting a larger LG Neochef with the hidden buttons door pull and we have several of them at our office building too and for me that's the best microwave I've ever owned. Some folks may hate the controls tho. And that's coming from someone who would otherwise avoid about anything else LG. It's a bit pricy tho but about the same as this one.

I bought this (BB) about a month ago at full price (couldn't wait for a sale unfortunately and too late for price match). I compared the specs of the one at Costco since I would have preferred the better return policy and warranty extension with my Costco CC. They are almost the same but the Costco unit does not have a cyclonic inverter while the BB unit does. I don't know how much of a difference it makes in real world use but in theory it's supposed to rotate the microwave field around the food rather than just applying it in one plane. The food rotates anyways so maybe its just a gimmick but I can say that this microwave heats food very fast and very evenly. Its overall a nice unit.
I only have a few complaints (and can't speak to long term reliability since I've only had it about a month). The interior is pretty large but the height is very limited. My previous no name microwave had less cu ft with a smaller glass plate but the height was about an inch more. It works for most of what we cook in it without a problem but I could see it being a limiting factor at times. Also, due to the mounting height and how tall I am, I need to bend down a bit to get a good look inside the microwave while its running. Interior visibility through the door in general is not that great as well. Also, it shows fingerprints a lot and the blue display has little contrast against the black background and is hard to read from a few feet away. It runs very quietly though and cooks very well.

Different inverter. Panasonic makes supposedly the best inverters. The one in your link supposedly used to be the best while the one posted here is the new best. The inverters make a big difference of how well it does with heating food evenly without cold/hot spots.
