While this is not a "sale" I consider it an incredible value for a state of the Zigbee switch with upgradeable firmware for future functionality. The feature set is unrivaled, and unlike a GE/Jasco Switch(Jasco is same price or more, but Inovelli has tons of other functions, with Smartthings, Hubitat and HA.
Don't believe me, watch how fast it sells out, just like the Red series did.
I just got lucky and noticed the pre-sale and wanted to share.

Can you give me an example as to why firmware on a switch would matter? More than likely I'd imagine the hardware would upgrade on these items in the future requiring updated software/firmware. I just can't see what use "firmware" on a switch would have for 99% of the population.

I was hoping their zigbee line would be heavily discounted compared to the zwave models…

I bought their zwave bulbs (crap) and always had issues with my zwave mesh. Their red dimmer switches are somewhat okay.
This being zigbee mehhh i steer clear of zigbee as it interferes with wifi.
I agree I'd prefer to stick with Z wave, but the reality is that for some devices, there aren't good Z wave options. This will be much better and more useful zigbee repeater than what I'm currently using.

I have a bulb, and it was finicky at first, but it seems better now. Their red series dimmers and on/off switches have been great for me. The worst was the fan/light switch, but their manufacturer basically gave them the finger on fixing it. So, I'm sympathetic with Inovelli on that. They're switching manufactures for the zigbee stuff. So, I'll likely get a zigbee fan/light switch.

I understand they are trying to make a lightswitch light be useful in someway but it feels very gimmicky. If someone breaks into my house or someone broke down the gate security I don't imagine many people are going to use a light switch as their first line of notification. I guess I could be wrong. Mayne I'm not rich enough to entertain the idea of spending all this money on a switch with a light when a simple echo or google home can do all this while also making noise to alert you.
To share my current usage:
my kitchen switch is solid red when the garage light was left on,
my stairs switch stays blinking red to remind the family whenever the downstairs night motion alarm is active,
my office switch next to my desk flashes specific colors for a few seconds to subtly inform me when family members are waking up (upstairs motion) or coming downstairs (downstairs motion) or arriving home (garage opens).

I believe the location of the switch is key to the usefulness of the notification light.

I'm a tester for the company, have 2, and am more than willing to answer questions. This is a reputable company with a community like no other. The switch is a complete rework from scratch but has the same functions as their reds on ZigBee though. So multi-tap scenes (2 up start music in room, 3 down bedtime, etc.). Notifications are helpful for knowing the state of "things". I use mine for weather, HVAC state, door security (garage, windows, etc). They will also "bind" with other ZigBee devices for local control even without the coordinator. Works with Alexa, ST, HE, HA, etc. More than happy to answer and questions.

Smart home solver rated this his top zwave bulb for color accuracy, hue, and control, so it's a bummer your experience didn't align. Did you have on a always-powered circuit?

I'm not familiar with their Zigbee line, but am familiar with their Z-wave line. I'm a little confused as to why you think this is geared toward the security market as opposed to automation. Having said that, though, $45 *is* expensive (to me) for a smart switch, but there are some reasons why this may be a better value than initially obvious.

First, this could be used to control multiple standard LED light bulbs in a fixture, so you are spending the $45 once instead of multiple smart bulbs.

Secondly, this smart switch can be used in a 3- or 4-way configuration with dumb switches, so you only have to buy 1 smart switch instead of specialized smart switch sets.

Lastly, Inovelli makes very high quality switches, so you can expect good quality and good support. And for those of you need to home automation, Zigbee and Z-wave devices (like this one) can be controlled locally (without a cloud), which basically guarantees that these will continue to be usable even if Inovelli closes down. Keep in mind though, that you will need a Zigbee controller which adds some complexity to the initial setup, especially when comparing to Wi-Fi. And if you start setting up Home Assistant, you can expect to add many hours of management and configuration going forward, which may not be worth it to many people.

One of the best parts of Inovelli is they are community driven (example me!). The listen to consumer feedback to improve or add features through the lifetime of the switch. The cool thing is these allow OTA (Over the air) updates, so when Inovelli pushes an update, you can read the new features and decide to update! There is also a new progress bar that shows the switch update status blinking green (can of course be turned off).

One more item, they do also have 10 pack contractor packs for $400 if you want to save on a bulk order. They don't come with faceplates.

I tried their red series switch, and experienced a noticable delay in switching lights on and off.

Does this blue series have a similar delay?
