What's a tier 1 brand? As far as I know all the major brands have different tiers of models so you can no longer just go by brand.
Just note. For anyone who is wanting to use this for antenna tv there is no built in TV guide. Must scroll each channel manually and hit info to see what's playing. The tv is capable of showing it but there is no option to do so. Very weird omission from Vizio considering my 10 year old pioneer plasma and my 3 year old Samsung have it but important enough for me to probably not buy another Vizio tv.
I'd go with Vizio as it's a tier 2 brand vs JVC which is a tier 3. Also Costco provides 90 days tech support & return policy, minimum of 2 years warranty, and up to 4% cash back with their CC

This is just not important to any manufacturer anymore, not really a reason to hold it against Vizio. You are asking them to support a technology that has been completely replaced, in several different aspects. You are not likely to get any premier TV that will support this function in the fashion you want.

This is not a weird omission at all, there is no reason for TV manufacturers to support this anymore. The biggest reason would be less then 1% of their customers use it. Second reason is they can cut the price of the unit the cost of what it costs them to support it so the people that need it can buy a unit that they can use with several TVs. You shouldnt hold Visio responsible because no TV in this market really supports what you want, if they do it is because they need a model refresh.

For your perspective, this is the direct opposite request coming from people not buying a TV because it is not "smart" when all they had to do was buy a firestick or roku. The difference is they are now catering to those people since they are the majority.

Can some of y'all please help me out? Looking for a TV for family members who use only Chromebooks, Android phones and gmail. Yeah, Googled to the max...lol! Not familiar w/ Vizio and would like to know if they can view their phones (pics/videos/etc) and Chromebook screens on this w/o too many technical steps? They are quite tech challenged. Message me if you prefer. Reps for helpful posts, thanks.

Yes, it has Chromecast built-in so any google app with the cast option in the corner should cast it to the tv with no problem. and you can also use an HDMI wire to connect the Chromebook. I have a long HDMI coming from the TV all the way to the couch, semi-hidden, and makes it easier to use my laptop

I placed an order for Hisense 55' ULED for $400 from Costco it's gonna deliver tomorrow .. more or less same spec this is $100 less.. which is better ? Going to order this one too .. will try out both and return one .. this going be a living room

your essentially paying for local dimming.. both panels are 60hz refresh.. similar specs. so depends on your use case. I'm using it for my bedroom, so i'll lean towards saving $100 with this tv.

Would anyone be able to advise on how this compares to the similarly priced Hisense 55" R7G5 posted for $300 a few weeks ago? https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/707128

Trying to decide if I should return the Hisense for this Vizio, TIA!

Does anyone know the distance b/w the legs/stands? The illustration showing this info on the site is for a 65" screen. PLMK, thanks.

Can you provide me with some more details on why the Hisense is garbage? I was planning to get one for my mom for mother's day.

For the price, why not? Good for a bedroom tv
Not too big at 55"? I'm looking for a bedroom TV but feel like 55 would be overwhelming especially at night. Thought maybe 40-43" range myself but those aren't any cheaper on sale!

This or the JVC from Walmart?
I went with the JVC from Walmart because 1. with the 5 year Warranty it's still cheaper than the Vizio and 2. I don't like Smartcast, ie: prefer Roku TV.

Sure,

The first one I bought, I placed on a metal shelf behind the bar in my basement. I slightly tapped the edge of the TV on the self, and this produced a cracked thru the entire middle of the TV. On further inspection, I noticed that Hisense did not put any kind of bezel or border or edge around the LCD screen, just the raw glass.

I had let it sit in a box a long time while I built my bar, so was passed the return date. So I bought another one, and returned the cracked on with that receipt (no lectures please). So far, I have had this TV for six months, and find myself having to constantly restart it or clear the cache in order for the apps to work properly. It seems a lot of corners were cut with both the hardware and the software. I regret not spending an extra 100 or 200 on something more reputable.

Hope this helps.
