Not sure what the difference is but my 65S401 bought in 12/18/2017 from Walmart is still working perfectly with zero problems.
Love my current 65 TCL with Roku. Getting a divorce so I bought this for the new house. Have my current TCL mounted on a full range mount and it has held up to kids moving it around.

Love my Roku tv's, and TCL from my experience has been great.
Bad reviews are the few duds that make it out… for cheap entry TV this is an excellent deal I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I got the TCL 65 (although the Android version) a year and half ago as advertised here around Black Friday 2020 from Target, and it has been great. I remember some people getting duds, but I got mine as a gift for someone I was staying with in the pandemic, and they love it, looks great (I'm sure it's not gonna beat anything 10x it's price for sure), but for an inexpensive large tv, it's done it's job.

Warning though: the base legs are wide, so take that into consideration...

I currently own 3 TCL TVs, a 32", 55" and 75". All working flawlessly for several years. Would buy another one in a heartbeat. My 6 series 75" has amazing picture quality.

Anyone looking for a good budget 65" should really consider this. We bought this TV (or its equivalent) from Walmart in September 2017 for $698 and have been thrilled with it to date. Not a single issue. We love the Roku interface and remote. The HDMI (ARC) works great and controls our soundbar. Solid winner for the price.

Got the 50" last month from Target for $270. Happy with it so far. Roku is fast, streamed 1966's Django in 4K on Prime and a bunch of YouTube no problem.

Connecting to computer with Ethernet connection via network switch has a weird fuzzy distortion every few seconds but that could be my computer or network rather than the TV itself... Can't say I noticed the distortion while watching videos.

Got tempted in Wally recently with the yellow clearance tag for $500. This is clearly the better deal. Pays to wait sometimes. Smilie

Anyone have issues with the IR remote? It's the one quirk of my 43" series-4 that I hate the most. I can't use the remote at any angle except near dead-center.

Same price as 55" series 5 when on sale. I'd rather have QLED. Can't stand purple blacks.

I had a 4 series for a couple of years, and I didn't have any problems with it. Great entry level TV. However, the difference between the 4 and 6 series picture is night and day. I bought a 6 series last year when Walmart had it on sale, and the picture quality is amazing. If you can afford the 6 series, get it. Otherwise, the 4 series is still great for most people.

I brought the 55S405 4 series back in 2019. It still woks but wish I never brought it. I can hardly tell when something is 4K on this TV. Will never buy another 4 series TV from TCL again. TV is just not bright enough.Good thing I only paid about $250 for it.

It's really only viewable in a dim room with no direct sunlight. I had mine on vivid with the backlight maxed out. I believe the Hisense brand offers better options at or near this price point. That said, the Roku interface is great and the features included are impressive. EARC, companion app on phone, low latency game mode, and native black levels are better than top name brands in this segment.
