Bought a similar one from crate and barrel a few years back. I use it to burn joss paper to deceased when visiting cemetery. Works great and I recommend it for that purpose as it is foldable and portable
Never heard of joss paper before your post. So I did a little reading about it's use in Chinese ceremonies and culture. I learned something new. Beside offering deals, slickdeals can be educational as well.
before the pandemic I went to a meetup event which turned out to be a discussion and sharing of death culture. When it was my turn, I started talking in Chinese culture we burned houses, clothes, and cars during the Memorial Day so that the deceased would get them in the other world. It was so quiet for a min until the host explained to the group they were paper houses and paper cars… now I know the term for these! Thank you.

Is it just Chinese? Does it have anything to do with religion?

Works ok but after you burn the first couple notebook computers it gets really gunky and you have to pull out the metal parts and plastic slag.
Maybe you need a shredder? They make the Shredder notebook.

Me and my fellow plebeians would use this to keep the coals and going when we would have burning parties and such for maybe Heathens, Witches, Heretics, Schismatics, Cathars, Jews, Inquisition Victims, Philosophers, Freethinkers, Blasphemers, Apostates, Humanists, Pantheists, Unitarians, Deists, Atheists.

And on the weekend we'd bet on how much the High Executioner would be paid under the Tariff of Torture 1757 act, but nothing compared to gathering sticks to burn Perotine Massey.

Based on reviews... i think a common problem is people not putting the lower grate in, and charcoal ON that. Then top grate to cook on.

putting hot charcoal directly in the bottom of this thing would easily break it.

Good reviews show it properly., bad reviews looks like that. (or maybe trying a gallon pot of water, idk)

Hahaha, for a moment they must have thought it was a Devil's Night [wikipedia.org] kind of thing. Bunch of crazy Chinese people running around torching everything.
