From what I've read, the TX-NR6050 [costco.com] that was just on sale for Costco all month for $439 (regularly $499) is the exact same model minus a minimal difference in wattage (despite same power supply) and THX certification (which doesn't mean much these days). In fact, the 6050 comes with the 6100 manual and uses the same firmware according to this thread [audioholics.com].

So OP, if you paid $668, I suggest returning it and trying to grab it from Costco. Even at the regular price of $499, you'd still save over $100 even if you have to get a Costco membership!

Anyone have any leads on 11.2 or also know as 7.2.4?

as a 6050 owner this is 100% true. slightly less wattage and no THX "Certification", which as you said means basically nothing these days.

Amazing receiver. I know people had problems with Onkyos in the past (i did as well, had to send my previous in for the HDMI board swap... which Onkyo performed for free even though the receiver was well outside the warranty).

This one has a fan on the HDMI board, which leads to the only problem I have with it: when the fan kicks in there's an audible "click" sound that can be distracting. However, once the fan kicks in it seems to stay on so you never hear the click again. It would be nice if they just had the fan on by default.

Plus, with Costco you literally get a virtually unlimited return policy; receivers do not count the same as TVs/PCs/etc.

It's in stock and 499.99 at Costco with free shipping. Only a membership is required ($60/year): https://www.costco.com/onkyo-tx-n...04401.html

I bought it at 499.99 and had a bunch of credit card points to redeem for cash back and ended up with it for like $220 after all was said and done. But even at $500 it's a steal.

Thanks for confirming what I had read. Yeah, I'd say right now it's one of the best bang for your buck receivers (as Onkyo has always been). I too had one with the HDMI board issue (TX--NR708) a
s you said, they fixed it long after warranty. I That led me to buy a couple more including my current main receiver (TX-RZ830) which is still running great. definitely long for the days of the crazy Frys deals for receivers, but if I needed one today, I'd definitely be looking at the 605TX-NR0 or the X1700H
