I need to install a tracker on my car - car is 20yrs old Acura. But I need it.

Is there a good product that will track the location of the car and is hard wired on the car!

What would be a product that I should go for?

lots of products to use you could just hide a phone and have it wired into the car power.
Most of the companies charge to install then a monthly fee.

It's neither GPS or wired to the car, but an Apple AirTag is something to consider hiding in your car if you have an iPhone or iPad. It's a cheap option without any recurring fees.

Better to prevent / deter theft of the car if you can. It's a somewhat obnoxious option, but see if a microwave motion sensor can be connected to your car alarm. You've probably encountered this on a convertible at some point where the car squawks at you if you get too close. If you don't have a car alarm, add one.

The car will be in another state away from my eye sight - does OBDII is a concern as one can easily find it and remove it!

They work well and are much cheaper than most of the alternatives. Low upfront cost, cheap renewal. It does use the cellular network, so there is that.

Thanks for the detailed reply. On the contrary, my plan was to track a phone that I own but operated by another person. Phones do not have an admin and user a/c so that I can lock the admin a/c.

As you pointed out your kid is going to turn off the gps sharing via goog maps!

I thought that I can track the phone some other clever way.

There was an I had it installed while at school and kid uninstalled later on.
