ATV4k 2021 is a no brainer if youre in the apple ecosystem: AirPods/Apple headphone pairing, HomePod pairing, Airplay, remote on phone and watch, highest quality ATV+ show/movie bitrate exceeding all other platforms. Performance is superior / feels snappier / higher quality remote. Generally apps are of the highest quality compared to on some other platforms, but in other cases parity. Simplified OS not ad overload.
I use it with my bedroom tv that has aging internal apps and had an ATV4 1080 hooked up until recently, for a 4k OLED tv haha.
...I think Alexa is probably more competent overall for searching content but Siri aint bad I dont use either much in that regard or rather havent used them enough to notice a difference for movie lookups...
I will say, the Fire stick 4k max is phenomenal value - outputs Hulu in 4k DV, ATV Hulu app is 4k HDR. and if youre heavy on amazon stuff for content, I think fire stick obviously is the path to go since its made with that in mind of course.
Hulu app sucks though in general, android TV version is only 4k SDR wth?
...And the performance is pretty good for such a cheap stick, like shockingly. But again, tvOS is smoother just the nature of the beast. Fire stick works better outputting DD over optical audio vs. my internal apps on my Sony some only output stereo. Not sure how well ATV fares on that one since its not on my 5.1 receiver setup (fire stick is on living room tv) but its beamed to a large HomePod next to my bed.
Plus with Fire stick, you can turn off HDR or toggle DV to be HDR for problematic content. I think its more granular than ATV. And definitely
More granular than internal apps
ymmv but just some insight

I was a die-hard Roku fan, been buying them since their early generation products. I have three TV's around the house, I upgraded to Roku ultras on all three. For some weird reason, on all three, at random, I started seeing HDMI compatibility errors. I have 18gbps 4K cables from monoprice. I do keep spare cables so I swapped them out, the error still appear at random. Last Thanksgiving (2021) micro center had an awesome deal on last gen 4K 64gb Apple TV's for $99, I got one. Since then zero issues, using the same exact cable I was using with Roku. I am no longer recommending Rokus to friends. This is a good time to replace Roku #2 with this Costco ATV deal. I don't plan to load a ton of apps or play games on ATV so 32GB is plenty for my needs.
